NXT star Velveteen Dream was spotted backstage on WWE RAW this week

The May 10th, 2021 episode of WWE Monday Night RAW had a lot of talking points but one particular story caught everyone by surprise.

NXT star, Velveteen Dream, was spotted backstage on RAW. Unsurprisingly, it led many fans to question if he was going to be bumped to the main roster already.

But news has now come out that he was not supposed to feature on the Red brand in any capacity despite his appearance on the show.

PWInsider (h/t WrestlingInc) made this revelation on Wednesday but did not have any answers as to why he was backstage on the show at the Yuengling Center in Tampa.

It is also stated that Dream has not seen a lot of time in the WWE Performance Center for a while now, raising concerns about his future with the promotion.

Is Velveteen Dream still with WWE NXT after RAW appearance?

It seems that way, but that question arises in the first place due to his inactivity in the past few months.

Velveteen Dream hasn’t appeared on NXT TV since December 23rd, 2020, when he lost to Adam Cole. Before that, he was embroiled in some controversy of his own.

Several allegations in mid-2020 pointed towards him (real name Patrick Clark Jr) engaging in inappropriate conversations online with minors.

But WWE NXT founder Triple H, after conducting an investigation, stated that they found nothing and the company was comfortable with promoting him.

Clark’s character of the Velveteen Dream was taken up in 2017 on NXT and is heavily inspired by Pop icon, Prince, with even his finisher (Purple Rainmaker) being named after the pop star’s album.
