WWE release NXT superstar Velveteen Dream from his contract
On the 10th May episode of WWE RAW, Velveteen Dream was spotted backstage. The NXT talent hadn’t been in action since December.
And initial reports of his spotting led many to believe if Dream was going to make an appearance on the main roster.
That rumour was promptly shot down, but it still led many to believe that he was in WWE Creative’s plans despite being out of action since his loss to Adam Cole on December 23, 2020.
Nevertheless, it is now widely reported that the 25-year-old Velveteen Dream has been released from his WWE contract after 6 years with the company.
This does not come as a massive shock considering his long time out with injury last year and his reported scandal of messaging minors on social media platforms.
After the news of Dream’s release broke, WWE merchandise artist and talk show host Rob Schamberger called Velveteen the single most unprofessional person he has ever seen.
His tweet read, “Without saying anything further: He was the single most unprofessional person I’ve encountered in this business. I hope this is the wake up call he needs to start doing the emotional work to become a better person. All told.”
The reason behind Schamberger’s statement is not known. Dream’s release comes after WWE released 8 NXT personnel yesterday including stars like Alexander Wolfe.
The reason cited then was financial cutbacks that the company had to endure, but maybe it was different for the Prince-inspired NXT superstar.
More details should emerge as time passes. It is unclear as of now if Dream will continue a career in Pro Wrestling.
