The rumors of Vince McMahon being involved in a match at WrestleMania 38 have been going on for the past few days.
The 76-year-old Vince last wrestled in a no-holds-barred lumberjack match against Bret Hart at WrestleMania XXVI in 2010. Vince who has a liking for thrill is reported, going to face the SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee.
Pat is 34, and Vince getting into a match with someone 52 years younger than him is quite flabbergasting. As per a latest update, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer has reported that although the 76-year-old WWE Chairman will be advertised for a match at the Grandest Stage of Them All, he is not expected to take any bumps in what will be a “complete smoke and mirrors event.”
Meltzer stated that the match “was confirmed to be on the books for the [WrestleMania] lineup” as of Sunday evening. The match is set to be declared on The Pat McAfee Show this Thursday, where McMahon will be present.
Austin Theory to represent Vince McMahon at WrestleMania
Theory is expected to become one of WWE’s top heel superstars in the coming years.
The exciting Austin Theory was invited to the WWE Chairman’s office to watch the November 29th edition of RAW, last year. Vince tried teaching the 24-year-old, how to always be ready for surprises in the business.
Since then, Theory has had a few other segments with Mr. McMahon. Austin also said before his participation in last month’s Elimination Chamber that he doesn’t want to let Mr. McMahon down.
Can this be Theory’s big push?
As Mr. McMahon is not expected to take any bumps, fan are speculating Theory to be the one wrestling on behalf of his idol.
WWE could advertise the match as Vince McMahon versus Pat McAfee with both of them engaging in a war of words heading into WrestleMania. On the night of the event, McMahon could announce that Theory will compete on his behalf.
John Pollock of Post Wrestling, first reported the news of Vince possibly starting a feud with Pat McAfee last Friday.
Vince McMahon has had four WrestleMania matches in his career. He has lost on all four occasions against Shane McMahon, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart.
Pat McAfee had a match previously with current AEW wrestler Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver XXX. The match was also cooked on McAfee’s show where him and Cole got involved in a heated argument. The Vince McMahon versus Pat McAfee feud is almost certain to start off in the same manner.
