Charlotte Flair was the surprise return at TLC 2020 and teamed up with Asuka to win the tag titles
Raw Women’s Champion, Asuka, brought out the big gun for WWE TLC 2020 as she needed a quality partner.
Asuka was left to search for many names after Lana was taken out by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. The tag champions had targeted Lana for a while and it was a mystery as to who Asuka would choose.
However, she decided to go with one of her greatest rivals, Charlotte Flair. The Queen had been out of action for a few months after undergoing breast surgery but was back at TLC 2020.
She teamed up well with Asuka and the pair ended up winning the women’s tag titles.
Respect Asuka the most
Charlotte’s return was certainly big and she spoke after winning the title. The Queen also created history by finally winning all the women’s titles in WWE, and this is another feather in her cap.
She spoke about how great it was winning the title and teaming up with Asuka, and suggested that she respected the Japanese star the most:
“Honestly, I am honoured to be the tag team champion with Asuka but being back, in front of the fans, and being beside someone I respect the most in this business.”
However, The Queen was also worried about how she would perform but was happy that she could return:
“We have a lot of history and the fact that she could have had anyone as her partner but she wanted me means a lot.
“Not only was I nervous for the fans, I was nervous for Asuka but man, it feels good to be back.
“Never thought I would be the tag team champion with her but let’s see how far we can go.”
The last line was an interesting take in all this. Charlotte and Asuka have battle for the title several times and they could meet again for the Raw title.
They are champions now but Charlotte would be keen on becoming a singles champion in the future. Her return is a huge boost for WWE and she could have more to say on Raw tomorrow.
