The former member of 3MB has been doing a lot of work lately, even though he isn’t with WWE.
Slater looked like someone from the Dragon Ball Z manga as smoke and steam came out of his body after the workout, something that was normal for the main characters in the mange when they turned Super Saiyan.
Slater made his WWE main roster debut in 2010 as part of the Nexus stable. Although that angle didn’t last long, Slater stuck around in WWE for many years as a mid-to-low-card talent.
He was a four-time tag team champion and one-time 24/7 champion. However, there is little doubt that the biggest highlight of Slater’s career came in 2016 when he and Rhyno got over as a thrown-together team and went on to win a tournament to become the first SmackDown tag team champions.
Slater was once part of 3MB with Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal, both of whom were released by WWE at one time. They both returned and became WWE champions but Slater never made it count in the singles division.
WWE releases Slater
On April 15, Slater was released from his WWE contract due to budget cuts resulting from the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to his release, Slater appeared in a backstage segment with Daniel Bryan, trying to sympathize with the latter following a recent loss to Bray Wyatt.
Slater’s poor choice of words led to a match where Bryan emerged victorious. The two had a rematch two weeks later, where Bryan was once again the victor.
Slater opened up about his time in WWE and how he was burned out for a few different reasons prior to getting released. Speaking on a podcast, Slater discussed how he was feeling prior to getting laid off.
Slater said that he was not expecting the release since the company had said they had the resources to weather the storm but was incredibly thankful for all the time he had in the company.
The former tag champion also spoke about his attempts to pitch ideas to management and how it never worked out.
In the end, Slater said he was looking forward to where his career will end up. He calls his new transformation Heath 2.0. He also talked up AEW, Impact and NWA. It will not be surprising if Slater possibly returns to professional wrestling.
