Randy Orton offered to help to Christian after punt kicking him on WWE Raw causing an injury
It seems WWE Superstar Randy Orton has found his opponent for WWE’s upcoming PPV event, Extreme Rules.
Orton was involved in a fine battle against Edge on Sunday’s Backlash PPV event. The Apex Predator bagged the win against the Rated-R Superstar, courtesy a punt kick. Unfortunately, Edge tore his triceps during the fight, and will now be sidelined for months.
Orton, opening Monday night’s Raw, confirmed the same and went on to gloat over his victory, claiming that not only had he beaten Edge, but shut down any chances of ‘redemption’.
In walked Edge’s former tag team partner Christian, lashed out at Orton, before stating that his friend would get his redemption ‘on his own terms.’
Orton challenged Christian to an unsanctioned fight on Raw, which the latter accepted after much consideration.
However, things did not go well for the Captain Charisma as Orton delivered a punt to his head after Ric Flair had hit him with a low-blow. The Viper, then, pinned Christian to bag the win, before the latter was stretchered off injured.
Following his win, Orton, quite surprisingly, appeared to be helping the EMTs get Christian onto the stretcher. Lowering down next to his opponent, the Viper told him that he didn’t want this to happen. He told Christian that this was all his fault as he questioned: “why are you here?!”
Orton, then, asked the EMTs if he could be of any help, before getting outside the ring and helping them lay out Christian on the gurney. In exclusive footage released by WWE Network on Twitter, Orton could be seen once again leaning close to Captain Charisma and speaking with him.
The Viper appeared to tell Christian that he wanted him to come back like Edge did and face him, but he served him a reminder that Edge was not returning and he could not change what had happened. He then urged the EMTs to take care of him. You can check out the footage below.
With Edge injured and Extreme Rules not far away, WWE seem to be setting up another comeback angle involving another legend in the form of Christian.
Orton, once again, was bang on with his heel antics, setting things up brilliantly. It will be interesting to see how this storyline develops in the coming weeks.
