Otis has been with WWE for a few years now. He won the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2020 and earlier this year he won his first championship in WWE – RAW Tag Team Championship with Chad Gable.
Otis and Chad Gable work as a tag team on RAW and they are called the Alpha Academy. They won the RAW Tag Team Championship from RK-Bro in January before losing the titles to the same team they won it from.
Alpha Academy had the chance to win back the gold at WrestleMania when they faced RK-Bro and The Street Profits in a triple-threat tag team match for the titles. However, they couldn’t succeed in their quest to regain their championship.
On the RAW after WrestleMania this week, Otis and Chad Gable took on The Street Profits in a Tag Team match. The former tag champs unleashed an attack on The Street Profits from behind. Adam Pearce changed the stipulation of the match to a Texas Tornado Tag match.
Alpha Academy lost when Montez Ford delivered a Frogsplash to take Gable through the tables and scored the victory. This has apparently put them at the back of the line as far as another title shot is concerned.
Will the Otis and Chad Gable part ways?
Otis was quite popular during his time as a babyface. He turned heel after attacking Rey Mysterio on a SmackDown before the 2021 draft took him and Gable to RAW.
Otis has been mostly involved in the tag team circuit. Before Gable, he used to team up with Tucker. Tucker and Otis were called Heavy Machinery. They had quite a few shots at the NXT Tag Team Championship but they were unsuccessful.
They, however, enjoyed a decent fan following as they were a face tag team. On the main roster, Otis was involved in a few singles matches with Dolph Ziggler. During that time, Mandy Rose was the storyline love of Otis. Both of them were in love with each other but the “Show off” would get in the middle of the two lovebirds and express his love for Rose.
This led to a feud between Otis and Ziggler at WrestleMania 36 that the former won. After that, Otis would wrestle a few singles matches before returning to the tag team division alongside Gable.
Now that the Alpha Academy seems to have run its race, there’s a chance that Otis might return to singles competition. Gable might be the one to betray him and that would make Otis a face once again. Or WWE could just split them up without any storyline and have Otis carry on with the evil persona.
