Big Boss Man is a former WWF Hardcore Champion. But when did this WWE Hall of Famer Big Boss Man die?

Big Boss Man is known for his epic feuds during his time in WWF, now known as WWE. He has performed under the ring name Big Boss Man, and he has appeared in WCW as The Boss, The Man, The Guardian Angel and Big Bubba Rogers.

After stints in Jim Crockett Promotions, he signed for WWF in 1988 under Big Boss Man’s ring name. He was managed by Slick and was a heel. After his matches, he would handcuff his defeated opponents to the ring ropes ad beat them with a nightstick or ball and chain. He left the company in 1993.

Soon after, he joined WCW and wrestled under “The Boss” ring name and later changed his name to The Guardian Angel. After that, big Boss Man was a member of the nWo for some time. Big Boss again returned to WWE and served as Vince McMahon’s bodyguard in his feuds with Stone Cold and DX.

Big Boss Man died of a heart attack on September 22, 2004, in Dallas, Georgia. According to Wrestling Observer, He and his family visited his sister at his home. While his two daughters went upstairs to play with his wife, Angela briefly left the room at about 10 pm and returned to find him dead on the sofa. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame by his former manager Slick. His wife and daughter accepted the award on his behalf.

Why did Big Boss Man never become WWE Champion?

Even though Big Boss Man was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016, he never reached the top of the mountain and became a WWE Champion.

During Off the Skript, Vince Russo explained why Big Boss Man never reached the roster’s top even during his second run with WWE. There were simply too many big names in the company, even though he was a powerful character.

“This was a guy that was going to be a very, very, very strong character, but there was really never talk about him being a Champion or anything. Bro, I say this all the time. When I was working during the Attitude Era, nothing against a guy like Boss Man, but, bro, the guys you had on top. You would have to leapfrog six, eight, or 10 guys to get into the conversation. That’s how stacked the roster was.”

He was involved in several big feuds with Big Show and even faced The Undertaker in Hell in a Cell. He was a former Tag team Champion as well.
