Roman Reigns is an Undisputed Universal Champion, but which NFL team does he play football for?
WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been one of the greatest characters recently. However, he is on his way to becoming the all-time great.
But do you know that before he entered the squared circle? He was a professional football player. First, he played for Pensacola Catholic High School in Pensacola, Florida. Then, he was transferred to Escambia High School to play his senior year.
He played alongside his cousins Joshua and Jonathan Fatu (The Usos). During his senior year, reigns was a defensive tackle and was named Defensive Player of the year by the Pensacola News Journal.
After high school, he attended Georgia Tech to play for the Yellow Jackets. Reigns was a three-year starter and played alongside Calvin “Megatron” Johnson. He was named team captain in his senior year.
Reigns recorded 40 total tackles, two forced fumbles and 4.5 sacks during his senior year and was named first-team All-ACC. He declared for the 2007 NFL draft but went undrafted. The Minnesota Viking signed him as a UDFA player, but his football career came to an end due to leukaemia.
Roman Reigns was signed by CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos after his first cancer diagnosis
After he was diagnosed with Leukaemia, he was signed by Jacksonville Jaguars. Still, he was released right before the start of the season. Then again, in 2008, Reigns signed with CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos and played an entire season. Still, he managed only five starts and wasn’t designed for the following season.
Just after that, he announced his retirement from football to pursue a career in professional wrestling. He recently became the undisputed Universal Champion by defeating Brock Lensar at WrestleMania 38.
