WWE has been on a renaming spree of late as far as their wrestlers are concerned and mostly the NXT Superstars are undergoing name changes. Raquel Gonzalez changed to Raquel Rodriguez, Pete Dunne changed to Butch, and RAW’s Austin Theory dropped the first name and now competes as Theory only. Kacy Catanzaro is the latest superstar to have her ring name changed. She has now become Katana Chance.
Kacy debuted in WWE back in 2018 and had been wrestling under her original name until last week when she was introduced as Katana Chance.
During a backstage interview on NXT 2.0 last week, Kacy tried explaining her name change. She said that there are parts of her that fans have not seen and Katana Chance will bring those to the fore. She also stated that her new name and character will bring more energy to NXT from now on.
“First, let’s talk about this Mackenzie — everyone knows me as Kacy Catanzaro. And that is me, but there are parts of me that people haven’t seen, except maybe Kayden, where I get to do what I want. And that’s shooting back straight whiskey and letting loose. Kayden isn’t the only one that can party and shake a little something. That is Katana Chance and that is the energy I’ll be bringing to NXT from now on.”
Kacy Catanzaro’s first match on NXT as Katana Chance
Katana Chance teamed with Kayden Carter on this week’s episode of NXT 2.0 to take on the team of Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz.
Chance and Carter weathered the storm from Yulisa and Feroz early on. They came back with their own tandem offensive maneuvers.
Chance and Carter won the match when they delivered the 450 splash combo and now they have their sights set on the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships currently held by Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin of the Toxic Attraction.
