The Stable of nWo was originated in World Championship Wrestling with the gimmick of a group of unsanctioned wrestlers aiming to “take over” and control WCW in the manner of a street gang. Let us find out about their legacy in detail

1.Formation & Legacy

On May 19, 1996, Late Scott Hall and Kevin Nash wrestled their final matches as Razor Ramon and Diesel in WWF and signed with WCW. However, Hall appeared on the May 27 edition of Nitro. 

Hall emerged from the crowd, entered the ring, and announced that “You all know who I am” Hall said to the stunned crowd, “but you don’t know why I’m here“. Then, he delivered what became known as the “You Want a War?” Speech. The group appeared in the World Wrestling Federation after the purchase of WCW by the WWF.

The nWo angle became one of the most influential forces in the mid-to-late 1990s success of WCW. The Stable became the driving force behind WCW competing with the WWF. It was initially fueled by heel Hulk Hogan, and this storyline is generally considered the most successful angle in the history of modern-day professional wrestling. 

This Stable dominated WCW throughout the late 1990s and continued till the dissolution of WCW in 2001. They had their PPV called Souled Out. nWo has inspired many parody factions like Stevie Richards BWO, Eddie Guerrero’s Iwo. When Hulk Hogan joined TNA in January 2010 and Hall, Nash, and Waltman began to appear as The Bandit reference to the original 2000 incarnation of the NWO’s “the band is back together slogan“.

nWo has a total of eight incarnations to it, nWo 2000, nWo B-Team,nWo Hollywood, nWo Elite, nWo Japan, WWE’s nWo, nWo Wolfpac, and The Original nWo. On December 9, 2019, WWE announced that the nWo, which consists of Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Waltman, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020.

2. Best moments of nWo

• The heel group of New World Order is one of the most famous within both WWE and WCW. It all started when Scott hall walked through the crowd into the ring to interrupt a match. Fans were shocked at the former Razor Ramon’s way to the call to talk about bringing the war to WCW.

• Another top moment of the New World Order came when Eric Bischoff donned the black and white and joined the stable as the boss.

• When Goldberg defeated Hulk Hogan for the WCW title at the Georgia Dome in front of over 40,000 people is another top moment for New World Order.

• The Stable’s rivalry with the Sting is another best moment for the New World Order. He changed his look and finally faced Hogan at Starrcade 1997.

• However, the most significant moment is when Hulkamania was put on the shelf and “Hollywood” was born. For the first time in decades, he became heel at the 1996 Bash at the Beach and the stable was born.
