WWE SmackDown again saw another downfall in its ratings this week. So what could be the main reason for it?
The overnight ratings for the latest episode of WWE SmackDown have been released. Unfortunately, it seems like there is another downfall in the ratings.
This week’s episode of the blue brand aired live from the Simmons Bank arena in Little Rock, Arkansas. The show had some great matches and some surprise appearances of Riddle and Drew McIntyre. However, Universal Champion Roman Reigns was no were to be seen.
According to Spoiler TV, SmackDown recorded an average of 1.778 million viewers in overnight ratings. Hour one drew 1.841 million viewers, while viewership dipped to 1.714 in the second hour. It’s lower than last week when the show drew 1.997 million viewers. In the key 18-49 demo, the blue brand averaged a 0.4 rating.
SmackDown highlights from this week
The Usos started the show this week and thanked their cousin Roman Reigns for giving them the Tag Team Title Unification match opportunity. However, they were interrupted by Shinsuke Nakamura, who challenged them to a tag team match, and his partner was none other than Riddle. So they squared off with Riddle and co standing tall in the end.
Ronda Rousey and Raquel Rodriguez were involved in one-on-one action, which ended in a no-contest when Natalya and Shayna Baszler interfered in the matchup. This led to an impromptu tag team match between them which was eventually won by the team of Rousey and Rodriguez.
Los Lotharios defeated Jinder Mahal and Shanky. Kevin Owens hosted an episode of the KO Show with Sami Zayn. They discussed Ezekiel’s true identity. Gunther and Ludwig Kaizer defeated Intercontinental Champion Ricochet and Drew Gulak.
The main event of the match saw Sheamus and co take on Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and their mystery partner, which turned out to be former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. McIntyre was the MVP of the match and, in the end, helped their team to pick up the win with an elbow drop from Woods.
However, the absence of Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns did hit the ratings a bit. So fans will be hoping to see The Tribal Chief next week.
