Roman Reigns could be facing Edge at WrestleMania later this year
Edge won this year’s Royal Rumble, and in immense fashion. He made his return to WWE after a few months out and went all the way to win the main event last weekend.
And now, The Rated R Superstar can have a shot at any belt of his liking at WrestleMania 37.
He is yet to make a decision, but his options are majorly down to Drew McIntyre, who is the WWE champion, and Roman Reigns, who is the WWE Universal champion.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Busted Open podcast this week, Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca discussed who Edge should pick for the title fight.
LaGreca stated that Edge has two options; the baby-faced McIntyre who looks up to him as a mentor, or Roman Reigns, who calls himself the ‘Head of the Table’.
“If I’m Edge, I’m probably going after the champion on SmackDown, because that is the guy who is boasting he is the best.”
Bully Ray then asks what does Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman need. He adds that Edge ticks all the boxes such as being someone who would match Heyman’s persona in promos.
“They need someone they can tell stories with, we need some great Paul Heyman promos, we need somebody that can hang with Paul Heyman on the stick, and then we need somebody who can have that great match with Roman, and we have to have a pseudo-babyface, and we need a heel.”
Ray states that the match against McIntyre has the potential of being good, but a match with The Big Dog would certainly be more thrilling.
“Edge vs. Drew, yeah it would be a good match, that’s about it. Edge vs. Roman? That’s a hell of a story and a build-up to me just because of Edge and Heyman on the microphone.”
It remains to be seen who Edge picks, but it is evident that a fight with Reigns could really be what both of them need; a fight worthy of being a WrestleMania classic.
