AJ Styles and Edge have developed quite the rivalry from the time the Rated-R Superstar brutally attacked the ‘Phenomenal one’ last month.
Edge and AJ Styles faced each other at WrestleMania 38. The match was epic and will be in the memories of wrestling fans for a long time. But towards the later stages of the match, an incident occurred that took everyone by surprise. Damien Priest, who turned heel a few weeks ago, appeared at ringside. AJ Styles was on the apron looking to deliver a Phenomenal Forearm. However, the momentary distraction thanks to Priest allowed Edge to take advantage as the Hall of Famer speared Styles and won the match.
On the RAW after WrestleMania, Priest joined forces with Edge. He said that Edge’s promos had a hard-hitting impact on him. Both men celebrated in the ring as we saw the inception of a badass heel faction. Styles came out to confront the two as Priest charged outside the ring to attack him. Styles, however, took out Priest with a right and then focused his attention on Edge. He laid out Edge and as he was about to hit him with a steel chair, Priest took him out. Edge recovered and he along with Priest used the numbers game to dish out a severe attack on Styles.
This week on RAW, Priest and Styles met in a one-on-one match. Styles delivered some of his scintillating offensive maneuvers until Priest knocked him off the apron. While Styles was on the outside, Priest went down on one knee as the light went off and then turned blue. This was much like how Edge has been cutting his promos these days. The match ended abruptly after this moment.
Potential Superstars who could align with AJ Styles
Kevin Patrick interviewed AJ Styles backstage and the former WWE Champion said that nobody will be able to stop him from coming for Priest.
We have listed three possible wrestlers who could partner with AJ Styles to take on Edge and Priest.
Tommaso Ciampa
It was announced this week on RAW that Tommaso Ciampa is the newest member of the roster. If Ciampa teams with Edge to face Priest and Edge, it would be a dream match for sure.
Ciampa receives huge cheers from the WWE Universe whenever he appears. Styles is also a wrestler who receives a lot of adulation from the crowd. They would make a great babyface team. Edge and Priest are expected to dominate RAW over the coming months so they should be winning the match. Ciampa can take a loss in a tag team match. That won’t do much harm to his credentials. In fact, being in the ring with legends like Styles and Edge would only do the Blackheart a world of good.
Gable Steveson
Stephanie McMahon announced at WrestleMania that Gable Steveson will be a part of RAW. He is an Olympic Gold medalist and is just 21 years old. WWE might be reluctant to give him a loss initially in his career albeit in a tag team match but for someone new to pro wrestling, he would benefit immensely from being in the ring alongside proven performers like Styles, Edge, and Priest.
There isn’t too much of a chance of this happening though. Steveson might start off in singles competition in some squash matches and then move on to better opponents.
Finn Balor
As per rumors, Finn Balor and AJ Styles are in line to face Priest and Edge at WrestleMania Backlash next month. This would certainly be a dream pairing for the WWE Universe.
Both Finn and Styles are decorated and proven performers. Balor was the inaugural Universal Champion and is currently holding the United States Championship. He will be facing Theory on RAW next week when his United States Championship will be on the line.
After the match ends, whether Finn wins or loses, he could team up with Styles. It is important to remember that Finn won the United States Championship from Priest a few weeks prior to WrestleMania on an episode of RAW. So the animosity is already in place as far as Priest and Balor are concerned. Styles and Edge have already been at loggerheads so this looks like the most suitable possibility.
