Stephanie McMahon’s departure to bring Shane McMahon onto WWE scenes yet again?
The WWE Universe was taken by storm after Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon announced her sudden leave announcement from the company to mainly focus on her family.
Stephanie McMahon has witnessed the company’s growth and transformation, mainly for the Women’s Division. Before taking the role of Chief Brand Officer, McMahon was the director and Senior Vice President of Creative Writing in the early to mid-2000s.
Based on a report by Wrestleenomics, an employee of WWE stated that over the past few weeks, it was reported that her roles and responsibilities would be taken down. However, no formal reason for the announcement has been confirmed yet.
Here is the tweet,
As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.
It has also been reported by PWInsider, that many colleagues were taken aback by McMahon’s decision to step down. So now there has been a lot of speculation and question coming into the mind of fans as to if Shane McMahon would come back and take some role in the company.
As we all know, Shane was quietly let go from WWE after the fallout at Royal Rumble. It was also reported that there was a lot of heat on McMahon over this year’s Royal Rumble, who was the lead producer of the men’s rumble. Again, there was some lousy handling of superstars.
But now, with Stephanie going on a hiatus, there is a high chance that we might again see Shane McMahon in the picture since WWE will need someone to fill a big void of someone like Stephanie. Shane can be the right person for it with all the experience he has got in all these years.
We have to wait and watch if Shane comes up and does the job for his sister.
Many Superstars react to Stephanie McMahon’s hiatus on social media
McMahon’s leave of absence will come into effect from tomorrow. While she also stated that she would be making her return in the future. Many WWE Superstars like Alexa Bliss, Sonya Deville, and Carmella took to Twitter and shared their views on the announcement.
We love you @StephMcMahon
Thank you, @StephMcMahon!! You deserve it. Enjoy your family!
The absolute best. Thank you for being someone to look up to and learn from Steph.
You’re the best, Steph! Enjoy the time with your family.
Dave Meltzer reported that Stephanie’s leave of absence was absolutely her choice. The decision to step away from WWE for a while had been made some time ago. This is not something Stephanie decided to do yesterday, nor does it sound like she was forced or pressured to relieve her duties.
Stephanie remains the only original McMahon family member actively working for the company. She also owns 2.5 % of the WWE stock, valued at around $116 million.
