Graves has hinted at the possibility of a famous superstar returning for a big match at ‘Mania.
WWE is working overtime to make this year’s WrestleMania event an unforgettable spectacle. The company is leaving no stones unturned in its quest for an enormous event at The Showcase of The Immortals. And Corey Graves has hinted at a possibility of a big return.
WrestleMania 36 was held behind closed doors at the WWE Performance Center as the pandemic broke out before the big event. Last year’s WrestleMania was held in Tampa, Florida with limited tickets on sale. Total attendance across both the nights was reportedly, 51,350.
This time, WWE is almost certain to have over 100,000 fans each night for WrestleMania 38. The preparations are going on in full swing to give the audience a great set of matches.
Corey Graves, during a latest episode of the WWE After The Bell Podcast, teased the return of a “familiar face” at WrestleMania 38. He stated:
“And who knows, if the rumors do in fact prove to be true, we may have another familiar face back in the fold between now and The Showcase of the Immortals,” Corey Graves said. “This is one of those ones where: if you know, you know. I am not going to speak to it any longer. I’m going to feed the rumor mill, that’s what I’m doing, I’m feeding the rumor mill. I’m stoking the flames and I am pouring gas on the fire. If the rumors are true, I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Who is Corey Graves hinting at?
As per reports, WWE has already contacted Stone Cold Steve Austin for a match at WrestleMania while the former AEW superstar – Cody Rhodes, has been linked to WWE for a phenomenal comeback.
While the former NXT Tag Team Champion, Graves, hasn’t named anyone in particular, it could be someone really big in stature.
WWE has teased Stone Cold’s return to the squared circle for the first time in almost 20 years. Kevin Owens is his potential opponent. KO, over the past few weeks, has been degrading the city of Texas in all his interviews and on social media.
Texas is the home of the Rattlesnake, and also of WrestleMania 38, and Austin’s return will be a monumental moment for his uncountable fans all around the world.
Cody Rhodes is also, strongly linked to the WWE after ending his association with AEW. Cody’s return was teased more than a couple of times on last week’s RAW by Edge and The Miz. There are strong rumours that Cody could be facing Edge at ‘Mania.
Wrestlemania 38 could be the night of returns.
Vince McMahon is also rumoured to be returning to the ring versus Pat McAfee but the former is unlikely to compete himself. Roman and Lesnar are set to face each other in a winner takes all, title unification match.
The Miz and Logan Paul are set to take on The Mysterios. Becky will face Bianca for the RAW Women’s Championship while Ronda takes on Charlotte for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Graves, was forced to retire from in-ring competition due to concussion issues. He recently said he is cleared to compete. Could he be cheekily, hinting at his own return?
It could also be Stone Cold himself, as his comeback hasn’t been officially announced as yet.
