Shad Gaspard was known for his time in WWE as part of Cryme Tyme
In absolutely terrible news, former WWE star Shad Gaspard, one half of the tag team Cryme Tyme with partner JTG, went missing after he, his 10-year-old son, and several other swimmers were reportedly caught in a riptide while swimming in the ocean at Venice Beach, California on Sunday.
TMZ reports the news, which thankfully says that Gaspard’s son was rescued by lifeguards who rushed the waters to pull people out. Gaspard, however, was not rescued.
As if the report wasn’t already heartbreaking enough, TMZ reports that Gaspard told lifeguards to help his son first and was last seen when a wave crashed over him. A search was in progress using divers and helicopters, but it was called off later in the day.
Wrestling word at a loss
Several WWE superstars and alums weighed in when the news surfaced and expressed their hopes that he will be found. Whether it was Matt Hardy or Shane Helms, these professional wrestlers are holding out hope that this situation will end.

I didn’t know Shad well, but he’s a hero and a great father! God bless you and your family. Idk what else to say. This is a tragedy.

The family wanted privacy at the moment and a couple of wresters shared a statement too:
Reports also suggested that Shad told the lifeguards to first save his son and was swept away in a current.
Hopefully, there can be some good news and we can all pray for Shad’s family.
