WWE Champion Drew McIntyre reacted to being on the cover of Pro Wrestling magazine.
McIntyre has on an incredible rise in his second stint in WWE, and now he is gracing covers too.
The Scot tweeted:
“I have a lot of respect for the traditions of this industry, notice how I’m holding the title? I took this picture for my personal collection but it’s cool as hell to see it make its way onto the cover of the magazine I grew up reading @OfficialPWI.”
McIntyre beat Brock Lesnar on Night 2 of WrestleMania 36 to win the WWE Championship.
The match was originally supposed to take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, it was moved to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, with no fans in attendance.
McIntyre won the men’s Royal Rumble match in January and eliminated Lesnar during that bout after. The Beast Incarnate had eliminated 13 Superstars in a row but the Scot had other plans. That set the stage for what was a heated and personal rivalry leading up to WrestleMania.
While the Scot broke into WWE with the nickname “The Chosen One,” he was never able to reach the top of the company.
It wasn’t until he was released, reinvented himself and returned to WWE in 2017 that it was clear he was destined for greatness.
In his first official pay-per-view title defence since WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre beat Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank on Sunday to retain the WWE Championship.
One Stomp from Rollins wasn’t enough to keep McIntyre down. The challenger lined up for another, only to have the champion counter and hit the Glasgow Kiss.
Rebounding off the ropes, The Monday Night Messiah responded with a superkick, only to have McIntyre bounce off the ropes himself and deliver the Claymore Kick for the victory.
