Hulk Hogan was one of the most top sought stars in the company

Hulk Hogan has always been a top sought star. He is often claimed to be the reason behind WWF’s initial success. His charisma and Babyface nature, quickly took the fans by their heart. He was the face of the company for a long time and turned WWF from a regional company to an International giant.

The 1980s and early 90s witnessed The Hulkster become the face of the company. His popularity earned him success and monetary gains. During his time, he was one of the most to-drawing stars, and he rightfully earned a massive paycheck for that too.

In 1993, Hogan left WWE to join WCW. Hogan then took WWE’s major rival WCW to brand new heights. He soon became a top star there as well and started bringing them massive profits. WCW and WWE were always at a knife’s edge against each other, wanting to beat each other.

Hogan became a reason behind WCW’s huge success, and it earned him a 7-figure contract from the company. In 1998, Hulk Hogan saw himself being rewarded with a massive seven-figure contract, with various benefits. The contract had the terms that Hogan will perform at six PPVs per year, where he shall be the featured wrestler. The contract also mentioned his monetary rewards as well.

This seven-figure amount would be an additional advance payment to his guaranteed PPV payment.

How much money did Hulk Hogan earn from the PPVs he participated in 1998?

The Hulkster was offered his massive contract on 29th May 1998. After which, he first appeared on ‘WCW The Great American Bash ’98’ and then on ‘WCW Bash At The Beach ’98’, ‘WCW Road Wild ’98’, ‘WCW Fall Brawl ’98’, and ‘ WCW Halloween Havoc ’98’. He appeared on six PPVs after he was offered the contract.

Appearing on six PPVs meant, he earned $4,050,000 from all the six PPVs he wrestled that year. His lucrative ‘incentive compensation’ also helped him earn a huge amount from this contract. Out of all the six PPVs, he wrestled that year, he was paid an amount based on the buy rate of those PPVs.

For ‘WCW The Great American Bash ’98’, Hogan earned nothing owing to the buy rate being below the required amount. Next for ‘WCW Bash At The Beach ’98’, he earned $250,000, then for ‘WCW Road Wild ’98’ he again earned nothing because of the rate being below the mentioned amount. Then again, for ‘WCW Fall Brawl ’98’ and ‘ WCW Halloween Havoc ’98’, he earned nothing because of the same reason.

In 1998, Hulk Hogan thus earned $7 million. This was including his guaranteed payments of $1,350,000 on the first of July and November. However, this money did not include the percentage of the money he was supposed to receive depending on the cable sales.
