Former professional wrestler Johnny Rodz underwent heart surgery over the weekend in Staten Islan, New York. He is 81 years old and has trained several great wrestlers.
Rodz posted a tweet with his doctor and thanked him for giving him life and called him his “champion”. In the picture, the doctor was seen holding a championship belt. The tweet can be seen below:
“This Doctor is the best in my world not because he has my pro. Wrestling title he also gave me life I gave him a hell of a battle now he is my champion”
Rodz is a veteran of pro wrestling and is highly respected by his contemporaries and juniors. Fans replied to the tweet from the retired wrestler, praying for his speedy recovery. We would also like to join them and send our prayers for the legend and hope he recovers back to full fitness soon.
PWInsider had initially reported the news about Rodz undergoing surgery. He has trained the likes of The Dudley Boyz, Matt Striker, Tommy Dreamer, Tazz, and current NXT Superstar Wendy Choo to name a few.
He made his debut in 1964 and announced his retirement 35 years later in 1999.
