WWE preparing for Roman Reigns vs Cesaro after Daniel Bryan clash

Speaking on the Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ringside News), Dave Meltzer has shed light on what could be next for WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns after his feud with Daniel Bryan.

Reigns, who has been the Champion since WWE Payback last year, has now defeated Bryan thrice already, once in the Elimination Chamber and again earlier this month on WrestleMania 37, while their fight on the Fastlane PPV also ended in a DQ win for the Tribal Chief after Edge attacked both him and Bryan.

However, this past week on SmackDown, the American Dragon got another shot at the title. While he was pushing for Cesaro to get an opportunity at the Championship, Reigns ignored the Swiss Superman and challenged Bryan for another match, with the stipulation that the latter leaves if he loses.

What next for Reigns after Bryan?

The Championship match will go down this week on SmackDown. And Dave Meltzer has revealed what WWE could be planning in the aftermath of that fight.

Meltzer claimed that WWE will set up Cesaro as Reigns next opponent after SmackDown with The Head of the Table likely to beat Bryan. He also insisted that there could be a scenario where Bryan ends up the champion and takes on Cesaro, although dismissing it to be unlikely.

“So I guess the deal, in theory, what it looks like is that Bryan will lose and that is what helps set up Reigns vs Cesaro, but perhaps Cesaro comes down and he gets Reigns mad enough and that what get him to face Cesaro.

“Obviously, they’re going with Reigns vs Cesaro at some point. It could be that Bryan wins, Bryan loses to Cesaro and it leads to Reigns and Cesaro. I don’t expect Bryan to win, but they could do it.”

Either way, Cesaro finally being pushed into the world title picture after years on WWE is huge. The Swiss Superman has time and again proven to be a top worker in the ring and put on a brilliant show against Seth Rollins on WrestleMania earlier this month.

Cesaro next in line for Universal Championship match?

He has very much earned the spotlight and could be set for a shot at the title at next month’s WWE WrestleMania Backlash PPV.
