It is worrying times ahead for the fans of WWE NXT as one or more of their favorite wrestlers may get the ax soon.
WWE released as many as 10 NXT Superstars on April 29, 2022. Some names in that list were Dexter Lumis, Dakota Kai, Persia Pirotta, and Harland.
Now as per the latest update from Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has completed a six-month evaluation of its talents. There is a policy that if wrestlers do not show signs of improvement in six months then they run the risk of being released from the company. Alvarez stated that a six-month cycle is complete and the names will be announced soon.
The last batch of releases was handed in April so the next batch should be released in October. However, it seems that the six-month cycles are running simultaneously and more releases could be right around the corner.
“Every six months, they evaluate you, and if you aren’t getting better then [you’re] done for and apparently they’ve made some evaluations including some names you would know. So we might get some changes coming to NXT 2.0….not a cancellation, some people might be canceled.”
WWE’s developmental territory has as many as five exclusive championships. They are the NXT Championship, NXT Women’s Championship, NXT North American Championship, NXT Tag Team Championship, and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Bron Breakker is the current NXT Champion and he is on his second reign. Mandy Rose is the NXT Women’s Champion and she won the title back in October 2021.
The Creed Brothers from the Diamond Mine faction won the NXT Tag Team Championship at the In Your House event earlier this month while Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne hold the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Carmelo Hayes is the current NXT North American Champion. He is in the middle of his second reign after beating Cameron Grimes at In Your House.
