Several WWE staffs and talents test positive for COVID-19
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider (h/t comic book), several talents and staff tested positive following this weekend’s live event tour. Although no names were given, and since Friday’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown has already been taped, no positive results will affect the show.
Johnson pointed out how the outbreak could affect WWE’s post-Christmas tour, including the annual Madison Square Garden show on December 26. Johnson was quoted saying,
The Holiday Tour commences this Sunday 12/26 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden with the Raw brand and The Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida with the Smackdown roster, just four days away,”
Beyond MSG and Tampa, eight additional tour stops are scheduled across both the United States and Canada. In the United States, the tour hits Detroit for a Monday Night Raw broadcast with other Holiday Tour live events in Orlando, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Buffalo and Washington, DC. PWInsider.com is told that currently, there are no plans to cancel any events in the United States.”
WWE might return to having fans appear virtually
After spending over a year in pandemic and operating out of either the Performance Center or the thunder drone, the company finally started touring past July this year.
Reports have started to emerge earlier this week that with the latest outbreak via the Omicron variant, there is a possibility that WWE could return having fans appear virtually if mass gathering laws are enforced again.
However, WWE’s next main event is due on January 1 for the Day 1 PPV, scheduled at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
