WWE makes two new additions to the backroom staff
The company has hired John D’Amico and George Carroll Jr. to boost the backroom staff in WWE. D’Amico was an unfortunate release by WWE in September 2020 due to budget cuts after the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is a long-time employee with the company having joined back in 1989. He is back in the role of Director of Production Management. Following his appointment D’Amico wrote on LinkedIn saying:
“Thank you to everyone for the kind and encouraging words. I am thrilled to be back with WWE and looking forward building a new live production event team,”
This comes in the aftermath of the Vice President of Live Event Production – Scott Smoot returning to WWE.
Meanwhile, Carroll Jr. who earlier worked for New Japan Pro Wrestling in the United States and MLW has signed a deal to join NXT. He will be a member of the NXT writing team.
Carroll started his career as the Creative Director for New England Championship Wrestling back in 2011. He switched to Ring of Honor a year later to work as a writer and content producer. After a long stint with the company, he joined NJPW as Director of United States Operations. His move to WWE will be a breath of fresh air for the NXT division.
The duo bring in vast experience and expertise in the business. With Summerslam approaching, an interesting match-card is highly expected after their signing. D’Amico is a veteran and has a good rapport with the WWE staff over 30 years.
Carroll Jr. has been around the wrestling industry and brings in loads of variety and excitement to the table. His CV speaks for himself and is an indicator of the good work to come.
WWE will be looking to welcome back fans from July and having packed arenas again is what the company would want to see.
