WWE has officially changed King Xavier Woods name yet again
New Day member Xavier Woods won the King of the Ring tournament this year and won the tag team title. But now, just before WrestleMania, WWE has decided to change his name yet again.
Xavier Woods’ name was changed to King Woods after winning the King of the Ring tournament at WWE Crown Jewel last year. He returned to Friday Night SmackDown the previous week after being out of action earlier this year.
Woods came and helped his New Day stable member Kofi Kingston, who Sheamus and Butch attacked. However, WWE’s roster listings have revealed that King Woods is no longer his current name, and it is being reverted to “Xavier Woods.”
Kingston and Woods face Ridge Holland and Sheamus at WrestleMania 38.
Xavier Woods is not the only one whose name has been changed this month
Other than Woods, another SmackDown superstar got his new ring name. Its former NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne has now changed to Butch.
During an interview, Dunne mentioned no issue with his new name change. However, he also said that it was time for a change.
“I mean it’s just different but I think it’s time to change it up a little bit. Like I said, five years, fresh start, why not try something a little new? And the thing is with me, whether it’s a name or whatever it is that changes, that’s not really what endeared me to the audience in the first place, right? It’s the — I like to think anyways it’s the quality of the in-ring work, and that’s what I’m gonna keep the same, of course. It’s gonna get better, it’s gonna improve as time goes. So that’s sort of my perspective on it,” said Butch.
Butch will be alongside Sheamus and Ridge Holland at WrestleMania 38.
