Xia Li close to suffering bad injury during match with Raquel Gonzalez on NXT
Xia Li will breathe a sigh of relief as she was close to suffering a gruesome injury during her title showdown with Raquel Gonzalez on NXT.
Li, a member of the Tian Sha faction challenged Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Gonzalez performed a corner slingshot senton splash landing on top of Li. Unfortunately, Li miscalculated the impact and was unable to bring her hands up in time, thereby exposing her ribs.
Fightful have now reported about Li’s status saying:
“For those asking about Xia Li, we were told she appeared okay backstage after NXT.”
Li was attended to by a medical team. She rose once again take a Tequila Shot from Raquel Gonzalez to end the match. The injury scare was a fright throughout the division, but it is reported backstage that she is fine now.
Li has been one of the best wrestlers on the women’s roster in NXT and has shown that time and time again. She will hopefully return after undergoing tests, before she can return to WWE NXT again.
Will Xia Li challenge again?
Having Boa and Mei Ying, alongside Li could give her the boost to snatch the crown from Gonzalez. Gonzalez has been a dominant champion, retaining the title through tough encounters on NXT. On April 7, 2021, González defeated Io Shirai to become the new WWE NXT Women’s Champion.
Xia Li will look to return soon after the nasty injury and get another chance at the gold. This time around, she will be wary of the threat of the champion and will have to raise her game to another level.
