Zack Ryder wants to face off against Edge

Recently released WWE superstar Zack Ryder revealed that Edge was his dream match for WrestleMania.

Ryder tweeted, “As a kid, I always dreamed of wrestling  @EdgeRatedR at WrestleMania. Trying to help him retain the World title in the main event of Mania was close enough for me though.”

Just over a year ago, Ryder reached his peak after he defeated Dolph Ziggler for the United States Championship. Things have gone downhill ever since and Ryder was eventually released by the company.

There have obviously been a lot of squandered talents in the WWE over the years, but Ryder may be among the company’s greatest missed opportunities.

His popularity reached a high-point in late 2011 when he won his first singles title in WWE. And it seemed like things were only going to get better for him. But his strong push suddenly ground to a halt without explanation.

Rather than allowing Ryder to have a fruitful run with the U.S. title, he was immediately thrust into the feud between John Cena and Kane.

While it seemed like his involvement could be beneficial at first Ryder was basically buried by Kane. This led to him dropping the title to Jack Swagger.

Edge beats Orton

Edge defeated Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36. The lengthy, pre-taped match contained a highly controversial spot involving gym equipment on the heels of Vice’s Chris Benoit documentary, where WWE was not portrayed in a positive light.

Edge and Orton easily outpaced the field with the best buildup to a WrestleMania match in 2020.

From Edge’s surprise return at the 2020 Royal Rumble to the go-home Raw for WrestleMania 36, both stars poured their hearts into deeply personal promos.

Orton vs Edge part 2 should be coming soon too. Orton has challenged Edge to a normal match at Backlash, but the Rated-R Superstar is yet to accept.
