Andre the Giant was called “The Eighth Wonder of the World” thanks to his enormous physical presence. He had a billed weight of 520 lbs and a height of 7 feet 4 inches.
His most famous match according to most was the one he had against the legendary Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania III in 1987. The match was for Hulk Hogan’s WWF World Heavyweight Championship. The Hulkster retained his title but Andre got his revenge in 1988 when he won the title from Hogan on the first episode of The Main Event.
Andre was the first inductee into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame (then WWF Hall of Fame) in 1993, soon after his sudden demise. The French star was the solo inductee that year. He was a one-time WWF World Heavyweight champion and a one-time WWF Tag Team champion with Haku.
On 10 April 2018, HBO aired a documentary film called Andre the Giant. Andre also did a few films and television shows. He appeared in television shows like The Greatest American Hero, B.J. and the Bear, The Fall Guy, and more.
On 10 March 2014, on an episode of RAW, the host of WrestleMania 30, Hulk Hogan announced that in honor of Andre’s legacy, WWE was establishing the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
