Franky Monet has eyes on Raquel Gonzalez as she aims to reach the pinnacle of NXT women’s division
This week’s WWE NXT saw Franky Monet (fka Taya Valkyrie) make her much-awaited in-ring debut on the Gold brand.
She faced Cora Jade and was impressive throughout the course of the match as she went on to win impressively. Ever since her first appearance on NXT, it’s clear who she is targeting.
Monet made an appearance on NXT in April where she came out with her Pomeranian and instantly called out the WWE NXT women’s champion, Raquel Gonzalez.
That trend has continued, and in the most recent interview with WWE, she explained how being the new kid on the block gives her an advantage over her opponents.
“I’ve been studying these girls for years. What do they know about me? I’m unpredictable. I’m La Guera Loca. I’m on this crazy path to get me here. There is no way to predict what I’m going to bring to the ring that day.
She then reiterated her desire to go after Raquel Gonzalez while also warned the other female wrestlers, saying that they all have a target on their back.
“So Raquel, better watch out. And along with, honestly, the entire women’s locker room. Like I said to you, on Tuesday, everyone has a target on their back. Raquel’s is just, one with a nice, shiny, NXT women’s championship belt.”
Raquel recently beat Mercedes Martinez to retain her belt. She then paid her respect to her opponent backstage, which usually means an end to any kind of feud.
And with Monet’s excessive mentions of Raquel, there is no doubt that the two of them are bound to fight for the golden belt sooner rather than later.
The only doubt remains who Monet will have to face on her pathway to earning the title shot. That will, of course, become clearer as time passes.
