WWE has recently released a lot of wrestlers and the NXT rebranding might just lead to more
With the news of WWE NXT being rebranded being all over the place. There might be big roster releases on the way according to Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Cageside seats):
Alvarez: “The veterans are there to help the new guys learn.”
Meltzer: “And then probably getting phased out…I’ve heard names on the chopping block. You don’t know until it happens, but I’ve definitely heard names. A lot of the guys who’ve been there for a long time…those are the names that have been talked about.”
WWE has recently released a lot of their wrestlers including some big names like Bray Wyatt, Ric Flair, Fandango, The Bollywood Boyz, amongst many being fired by Vince McMahon.
The main reason for WWE’s recent releases has been the budget cuts. This is hard to believe as the company’s profits are at an all-time high.
WWE President Nick Khan has his say on NXT rebranding
WWE President Nick Khan recently revealed the company’s intentions of rebranding NXT and changing the philosophy going forward. The company looks to change the whole look and feel of the new NXT. A new and much more colorful revealed this past Friday night SmackDown and the new rebranded NXT goes on air Sept 14th.
Khan also spoke about his desire to look somewhere else for the upcoming talent. As the “indie” wrestlers were the centre of the project for NXT for the last few years.
The company will look to revamp how the NXT brand is run and televised with Triple H still being very actively involved in the new project.
As he was the one who helped to build NXT from the original game show to the mega brand it has become recently. Khan also hinted that McMahon would also be taking a major part in controlling NXT and become more actively involved in making the big decisions for the company’s marketing and promotion.
How successful do you think the new rebranded NXT is going to be?
