WWE NXT Results and Grades: This was a special edition of WWE NXT as it took place on a Tuesday evening.
The main event was a 60-minute iron man match between four competitors. Adam Cole, Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were to meet for the vacant NXT title crown.
There were a few other big matches too as WWE tried something different and here are the results and grades from this week’s NXT.
Legado del Fantasma took on new tag champions Breezango and Isaiah Scott. This was a crazy match as Imperium members Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel joined up with Fantasma.
There was a lot of madness in this clash with some heavy machines being brought in too. However, it were the faces that got the win in the end.
Breezango and Scott win
Grade A
NXT has a ton of quality performers and this was another example of how great they are. Bringing in Imperium continued a rivalry with the tag champs but it will be interesting to see what happens with Scott and Santos Escobar, the Cruiserweight champion, in the future.
Candice LeRae took on Kacy Catanzaro in the next match after Tegan Nox spoke about her relationship with LeRae.
While LeRae got the win easily, she then called out Nox and wanted to speak about their relationship.
LeRae beats Catanzaro
Grade B
The match itself wasn’t anything special but it will be interesting to see if Nox and LeRae patch things up.
LeRae has turned heel and that might not work all that well with Nox.
Mercedes Martinez and Rhea Ripley got it on as they seem set for a steel cage match.
Bronson Reed took on Timothy Thatcher in the next clash. Reed used his size well early on but Austin Theory interfered and that allowed Thatcher to get the win via a submission.
Thatcher beats Reed
Grade C
Theory getting involved cut the match short but it does set up Theory vs Reed. The Aussie has been great since his recent push but he should be too much for Theory due to his size advantage.
The match started off as expected with the first fall coming just before the 30-minute mark. A mad scramble later ensued with all four men getting one fall each.
Balor got one more fall to lead the count with a minute left but Cole also got another fall just as time expired to make it 2-2.
William Regal came out and announced that Cole vs Balor was set for next week and that would decide the next NXT champion.
Grade A
The match was great, as expected, and all four men had the chance of getting the gold. However, it was a little surprising that NXT didn’t crown a champion tonight.
Cole vs Balor should be great, but this felt like a lost opportunity.
