WWE NXT Results and Grades: WWE NXT was setting up for the upcoming TakeOver event, and they had one big match advertised.
Cameron Grimes, Kushida and a mystery competitor was going to face off for a spot in the NXT North American title ladder match.
However, we start off this WWE NXT results and grades piece with Karrion Kross in action:
Kross took on Danny Burch and even though the British star tried to get the better of Kross, it was Doomsday who got the win.
Keith Lee, the NXT Champion, came out to the ring to sign the contract handed by Scarlett Bordeaux.
However, when he opened it up, the contract exploded in his face. Lee needed to be helped by medics as he was put into an ambulance.
Kross beats Burch
Grade B
The match wasn’t anything great as Kross was expected to win. However, the explosion segment was a bit hit and miss. Kross doesn’t have to do all this as he is quite a specimen.
Killian Dain and Drake Maverick started a match. However, the clash didn’t continue on for long as the Undisputed Era attacked and ended this as a no contest.
Adam Cole, who faces Pat McAfee at TakeOver, claimed he wasn’t afraid of the former NFL star and would destroy him.
Grade C
This match seemed to be a side-story for WWE as they cut out several times. Cole threatening to destroy McAfee was fine but he deserved a segment on his own rather than interrupting a match.
Tyler Breeze took on NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar with Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza coming out to cause a distraction in the end.
It was Escobar who defeated Breeze but the beating continued for Prince Pretty. However, Fandango tried to make the save, despite an injured arm and Isaiah Swerve Scott was able to save Breezango.
Escobar beats Breeze
Grade C
Escobar has done a great job as the champion and it was interesting that Fandango, injured and all, came out to save Breeze.
Scott getting a shot at the NXT title would be great and it will be interesting to see what happens next.
Mia Yim took on Indi Hartwell and it was Yim who struggled early on. However, the HBIC got her bearings back and got a win. She put Hartwell into submission and her rival had to tap out.
Yim beats Hartwell
Grade B
It was great seeing WWE touch upon the Yim and Lee relationship before the match. The HBIC needed a win and it was great seeing her back in action on NXT.
Damien Priest and Bronson Reed faced off in an interesting clash with both stars looking to win NXT gold in the ladder match.
While Priest started off the match well, it was Reed that got the win in the end.
Reed beats Priest
Grade B
Reed has been getting a huge push by WWE and the Australian picked up a big win for his NXT career. It will be interesting to see how the ladder match goes but Reed looks good to get the title.
Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter took on Mercedes Martinez and Aliyah. Robert Stone had tried to get Catanzaro into his team but was slapped by the NXT star.
However, it was the pair of Martinez and Aliyah who got the win. Rhea Ripley came out to take on the heel pair and was helped by Shotzi Blackheart in clearing the ring.
Aliyah and Martinez beat Catanzaro and Carter
Grade C
The stage is set for a Ripley and Blackheart tag team taking on the Robert Stone Brand. That should be interesting to see and maybe they can set it up for TakeOver XXX.
The triple threat match saw a surprise joinee with Velveteen Dream making his return to WWE.
However, it was Grimes who got the win and reached the ladder match. Dream then attacked Kushida but it was Finn Balor making the save.
Grimes beats Kushida and Dream
Grade B
Finally, Grimes had something to celebrate on NXT and even if he doesn’t win the North American title, it was great seeing him get something good on the show.
Dream returning to WWE is also a huge bonus after some unwanted allegations against him.
