WWE NXT Results and Grades: WWE NXT had one big match on this week’s show with the No.1 contender’s spot up for grabs as Finn Balor was to defend his title.
The women’s division also had several big names eyeing Io Shirai’s gold while Karrion Kross was back in action and looking to cause damage.
However, we start off with this WWE NXT results and grades piece some tag team action.
Ruff and Kushida vs The Way
Leon Ruff and Kushida teamed up to take on Austin Theory and Johnny Gargano of ‘The Way’. In some tag action.
While Kushida and Ruff worked well despite being a new pair it was Theory and Gargano that got the win.
Theory and Gargano beat Ruff and Kushida
Grade B
This was a decent enough match which made Ruff look good too. Kushida and the others also looked great while Theory is having fun after missing out on TV for a while.
Ciampa vs Rust
Tyler Rust took on Tommaso Ciampa in the next match while The Blackheart left a chair for Timothy Thatcher to sit on during the match.
Thatcher did sit down while Rust hit Thatcher by mistake. While Rust put on quite a show it was Ciampa that got the win.
Ciampa and Thatcher then had an argument with the officials holding them back.
Ciampa beats Rust
Grade B
The match was certainly good and Rust showing what he can do against a beast like Ciampa should get people to keep an eye on him.
Ciampa vs Thatcher is going to be a nice battle too, especially with the mind games both are using.
No.1 Contender’s clash
Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch came out to support Pete Dunne while Adam Cole and Roderick Strong did the same for Kyle O’Reilly.
O’Reilly and Dunne met in the middle of the ring. Both stars gave it their all in a tough match but it was O’Reilly that emerged victorious.
O’Reilly beats Balor
Grade A
This was an incredible match which could have been used in a PPV. It was like a throwback to the old hard-hitting fights and both stars gave it their all.
O’Reilly vs Balor should be fun but Dunne looks a serious competitor for the title now.
Blackheart vs Hartwell
Xia Li and Boa got into a bit of a scuffle with the female star destroying Boa.
The next match saw Indi Hartwell take on Shotzi Blackheart. Hartwell then blasted Blackheart with a Candice LeRae trophy before the women attacked Blackheart further.
Blackheart beats Hartwell
Grade C
This didn’t make a lot of sense. Why not give Hartwell a proper win with some interference rather than just attack Blackheart and cause the DQ?
This segment helped no one except show how together The Way are.
Kross destroys
Dexter Lumis confirmed he was going to be hosting NXT New Year’s Evil while Bronson Reed was to return to action next week.
Karrion Kross took on Desmond Troy and beat him without much fuss. He then set his sights for Damian Priest at New Year’s Evil.
Kross beats Troy
Grade B
This was a reminder of what Kross is capable of doing but we have seen all of this before.
The match against Priest is interesting and the pair should put on quite a show soon.
Ripley vs Storm
Toni Storm vs Rhea Ripley served as the main event of the show as both women did their best to get the win.
Raquel Gonzalez also tried to help Storm and cost Ripley the match.
Storm beats Ripley
Grade B
Storm vs Shirai should be another interesting battle while Ripley vs Gonzalez should be a fun and brutal rivalry too.
