WWE NXT Results and Grades: NXT WarGames 2020 was just around the corner and there was still one spot left for Shotzi Blackheart’s team to be filled ahead of the show.
Raquel Gonzalez was to face Blackheart for who would get the advantage after a ladder match and there were some big matches too.
However, we start off this week’s WWE NXT Results and Grades piece with a moment for former WWE legend Pat Patterson who passed away.
NXT started with the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels and the NXT stars on the stage paying their respects to Patterson and a video played out too.
The show started with Damien Priest and Leon Ruff teaming up to take on Legado del Fantasma. Del Fantasma did well to control parts of the match but Ruff and Priest had issued tagging themselves in time and again and it was Ruff who got the win.
Ruff and Priest beat Legado del Fantasma
Grade B
There was some interference by another Ghost face in this clash too but it was fun seeing Ruff and Priest combine.
Johnny Gargano was watching the action from the commentator’s table and did a good job as well.
August Gray took on Cameron Grimes and he was carrying his strap ahead of Grimes match on Sunday.
It was Grimes that got the win in the end but kept attacking Gray before Dexter Lumis made the save.
Lumis beats Gray
Grade C
Grimes picked up the win in short time and this was to show that he too can dominate someone. Lumis vs Gray should be fun on Sunday.
Jake Atlas dedicated his match to the late Patterson and took on Tony Nese. Both stars performed well with Nese also looking to get the win with an impressive performance.
However, it was Atlas who got the win thanks to his DDT.
Atlas beats Nese
Grade B
Nese keeps getting overlooked on the main brands but he always performs well. Atlas is one of the rising stars on NXT and he even cut an interview after the match.
The Kings of NXT first cut a promo ahead of their WarGames match against The Undisputed Era.
After that, Ever-Rise were to face the Grizzled Young Veterans. However, they were taken out by Imperium.
The former tag champions wanted to send a message to the Veterans. As the quality match went on, it was Ever-Rise who came out and attacked the pair to cause a DQ.
Grade B
Ever-Rise got the short-end of the deal early on but things improved later on. Their attack on the pair seems sure that a triple threat clash between the teams will take place.
Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa quarrelled and had a bit of a fight before the main event.
The other women from each team were perched on a platform to ensure they didn’t cause an interference in the ladder match.
Blackheart and Gonzalez took each other to the limit before Indi Hartwell appeared and used a ladder to get Candice LeRae, Toni Storm and Dakota Kai down.
However, Blackheart’s teammates, Rhea Ripley and Ember Moon also appeared as all women quarrelled.
Hartwell tried to set up the ladder to get the win but Blackheart was able to get rid of Hartwell and Gonzalez to get the briefcase thanks to a lot of help from Io Shirai.
Blackheart beats Gonzalez
Grade B
It is a bit of a surprise that Shirai isn’t defending her title at WarGames, but it makes sense that she got into this clash.
She being the fourth elevates the match and this should be a quality battle on Sunday.
