WWE NXT Results and Grades: The Cruiserweight round-robin competition to crown an interim champion saw several matches on this week’s NXT, with one big star making his debut.
There was a huge tag match between four women and importantly, Velveteen Dream got his chance to face off against the Undisputed Era.
There was some additional help for Dream later in the match, and here are the results and grades from this week’s WWE NXT.
Lee makes the save
Although there was talk of Finn Balor facing off against Dream, it was Adam Cole that tried to take out his rival.
Cole called Dream out and set up a 3-on-1 attack before Keith Lee made the save. The NXT North American Champion and Dream were set for a tag match later in the evening, but more was to come.

Grade B
It was great that Cole returned to NXT after missing a couple of episodes. Reigniting this rivalry was good as Balor went missing before the airing of NXT and was replaced. The tag match was going to be great, but there was a twist later on too.
Tag team madness
The rivalry between Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai has continued for a while and we got a tag match between the pair.
Of course, Shotzi Blackheart was the partner of Nox while Raquel Gonzalez teamed up with Kai.

The match went back and forth as the quartet all had their moments. Nox and Blackheart put on a great showing towards the end but Gonzalez picked up win.
Kai & Gonzalez beat Blackheart and Nox
Grade B
Kai has done a great job as a heel and her partner is doing the bit too. The match was great though and it seems the rivalry will continue for a while.
Maverick in action
Drake Maverick was one of the stars released by WWE but he is still featuring in the Cruiserweight championship.
Maverick has cut some great promos since his release and faced Jake Atlas in the clash. Maverick did all he could in trying to win the clash but it was Atlas that got the W with a cartwheel avalanche DDT.

Atlas beats Maverick
Grade B
Another good match on NXT and it comes as no surprise given that Maverick is a great worker in the ring.
It was a surprise that he was still doing WWE matches after his release, but that could be part of the story.
Atlas picked up the W, but it will be interesting to see if Maverick is back next week.
More Cruiserweight action
The next match of the Cruiserweight competition was seeing Tony Nese face off against Kushida.
Kushida has been seen a lot in recent weeks and this was a physical clash between him and Nese.

The Premier Athlete then threw Kushida out of the ring and into the barricades as he looked to pick up the win.
However, it was Kushida that went 1-0 after applying the Sakuraba Lock and getting Nese to tap out.
Kushida beats Nese
Grade B
Kushida and Nese had some great chemistry in the ring, and they both looked good in the match. Can either one of them become the Interim Cruiserweight Champion? Probably, but there are bigger names in the tournament too.
HBIC meets the champion
Mia Yim faced off against Jessi Kamea and it was the Head Baddy in Charge that got the easy win. Kamea did have some moments in the clash but Yim taunted and teased her opponent before picking up the W.
That wasn’t it for Yim as NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair came out to the ring and said she wanted to face the HBIC.
Yim beats Kamea
Grade B
Flair coming out to meet Yim bumped up the grade for this segment. Yim was always going to defeat Kamea but her facing Charlotte seems a little rushed for now. However, Yim could make a name for herself when she does face off against the Queen.
Fantasma debut
Jack Gallagher went up against El Hijo Del Fantasma, who was making his NXT debut. This was the third Cruiserweight title match of the evening, but it was Gallagher who dominated early on.

However, Fantasma made a comeback in the second half of the match and picked up the W thanks to a Samoan Driver.
Fantasma beats Gallagher
Grade B
Gallagher has undergone a lot of changes in recent weeks, and he looked like a serious competitor.
However, Fantasma does look good for now, and it will be interesting to see how things develop for him on NXT.
The Dream saved by Dexter
The referee tried to get rid of Bobby Fish as the Era tried to do a number on Lee. That allowed Damian Priest to hit Lee with his knifestick, rendering the NXT North American Champion unable to continue in the clash.
Dream had to continue fighting, without a partner, and it seemed he was set to be handed a major beating.
However, he got help from a mystery partner as Dexter Lumis jumped into his corner. Dream tagged in Lumis who helped turn the tide, and it was left to Dream to pick up the win by pinning Cole.

Dream & Lumis beat Cole & Strong
Grade A
The match itself didn’t get a high grade as removing Lee from the clash took out some sizzle. However, it got a + point for bringing Lumis into the mix.
The new NXT star is a mystery and no one knows which side he is on. Hopefully, he gets the right treatment while Dream and Cole continued their rivalry.
