WWE NXT Results and grades: This week’s NXT had a couple of huge clashes already confirmed with Dakota Kai and Rhea Ripley facing off for the No.1 contender’s spot for the NXT Women’s title.
Cameron Grimes had also challenged Keith Lee to a fight but the NXT Champion also had Karrion Kross on his mind.
However, we start this WWE NXT results and grades piece with Ripley taking on Kai.
Ripley started off well by dominating Kai but the captain of team kick found her way back in the match.
However, Mercedes Martinez distracted and attacked Ripley and that allowed Kai to get the win.
Kai beats Ripley
Grade B
Ripley and Kai really put on a great show but bringing Martinez into the mix wasn’t needed. While Kai vs Io Shirai should be a good match, Martinez attacking Ripley after the match also opens up another storyline.
Bronson Reed came into this match carrying a lot of momentum. While Shane Thorne got a few hits early on, it was Reed who picked up the win.
Reed beats Thorne
Grade C
Reed is getting a massive push in WWE and it will be interesting to see how he does. Thorne making his return to NXT was also good, even though he couldn’t do much in this clash.
Ridge Holland, Oney Lorcan and Damien Priest took part in a triple threat match to determine another competitor for the NXT North American ladder match.
It was Priest who picked up the win but there was more to come. Dexter Lumis, who had won the first triple threat match, couldn’t participate in the ladder match due to an injury and more matches were announced to find the next two competitors.
Priest beats Lorcan and Holland
Grade B
While Priest got the win and is getting a decent push by WWE, the real story was Holland looking impressive in a triple threat match.
It will be interesting to see what happens next with him but spare a thought for Lumis missing out with an injury.
Grimes tried to get the better of Lee but the NXT Champion wasn’t going to be denied a win. While Grimes had some decent moments in this clash, it was all about Lee as he hit the Spirit Bomb for the win.
Later, Kross came out and told Lee he would do everything he can to get a shot at the title.
Lee beats Grimes
Grade C
WWE really seem to be stuck with Grimes and pitting him against Lee was a good idea but this didn’t help the Technical Savage one bit.
They could have made this a squash or Kross could have interfered with Grimes picking up the win. Instead, we got nothing and the story didn’t develop either
Before this clash, we saw Legado del Fantasma destroyed Breezango before Santos Escobar called out Isaiah Swerve Scott and warned him he could be next to be beaten up.
Tegan Nox and Indi Hartwell clashed next and it was the former No.1 contender who picked up an easy win.
Nox beats Hartwell
Grade C
The segment with Fantasma was excellent as the faction keeps on delivering. They took out Breezango and warned other stars what could happen if they came in their way.
However, Nox vs Hartwell wasn’t anything more than a squash with Nox getting the push.
Adam Cole and Pat McAfee had been in a clash a bit earlier and McAfee was on the commentator’s table for this match.
While Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish faces off the NXT tag champions, Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner of Imperium, Cole kept taking glances at McAfee.
Cole was upset at McAfee and threw water on him which allowed Imperium to pick up the win over Fish and O’Reilly.
However, the former footballer took out Cole with a kick and left the former champion out cold.
Imperium beat Era
Grade B
The match itself was very good as all four men are great competitors. However, marks were cut due to the nature of the finish and how McAfee was forced into this rivalry for no reason.
Cole vs McAfee shouldn’t take place but WWE seem determined on making this a match. Hopefully, it will be interesting and McAfee can pick up some wrestling moves too.
