WWE NXT Results and Grades: NXT was back after a successful TakeOver 31 which featured the return of two top stars.
Toni Storm and Ember Moon seem set to challenge the women’s champion, Io Shirai. However, there also was some fallout after the epic battle between Finn Balor and Kyle O’Reilly.
Kushida picked up a huge win at NXT TakeOver too and we start off this results and grades piece by bringing up the Time splitter of WWE.
Tommaso Ciampa took on Kushida after brawling early on in the evening. The pair put on quite a show as Ciampa dominated early on.
Velveteen Dream tried to interfere and cost Kushida the match but he hit Ciampa instead to cause a DQ.
Kushida then attacked the Dream before he ran off.
Ciampa beats Kushida
Grade B
Ciampa and Kushida actually worked great as a pair but it was a shame how the match ended.
Dream vs Kushida seems set to be the next rivalry and it will be interesting to see what is next for them.
Before the two incompatible stars teamed up, William Regal made a match with Ember Moon and Rhea Ripley teaming up to face Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez.
Ever-Rise took on Maverick and Dain, with the weird pair also having new music. It was Maverick and Dain that got the win but the celebrations were halted when Dain destroyed Maverick again.
Maverick and Dain beat Ever-Rise
Grade B
Ever-Rise were the latest to feel the force of this dysfunctional tag team.
It will be interesting to see what WWE have planned for Maverick and Dain though, apart from the comedy angle.
Leon Ruff took on Austin Theory with Theory getting an easy win in the end.
Dexter Lumis then came out and Theory accepted another match as he bragged about how great he is.
Lumis got the win with a submission before Cameron Grimes laid out Lumis.
Theory beats Ruff; Lumis beats Theory
Grade D
WWE tried to get three stories in one segment and it didn’t help any of the stars.
Should Lumis battle Theory or Grimes?
Finn Balor was confirmed to have a fractured jaw in two places before Adam Cole wanted revenge on Ridge Holland attacking the leader of the Undisputed Era at TakeOver.
Holland got a quick win over Danny Burch and kept attacking him.
However, Oney Lorcan came out to make the save and beat up Holland, who needed to be stretchered out.
Holland beats Burch
Grade B
Hopefully, Holland wasn’t seriously injured in the clash but WWE seemed to set him up for a huge push.
Indi Hartwell seemed to side with Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae by sending them a TV and some USB drives.
Shotzi Blackheart took on Xia Li next and it was Blackheart who got the win. Li was then given a letter after the match and ran to the back.
Blackheart beats Li
Grade C
Li seems to be the next big heel on NXT and it will be interesting to see what she is up to. Blackheart also is getting a push and the letter is something to think about.
Moon and Ripley teamed up to great effect as Kai and Gonzalez couldn’t keep them in control.
Moon was the one who got the win in the end as Ripley and Gonzalez continued to clash.
Moon and Ripley beat Kai and Gonzalez
Grade B
This was an incredible match highlighting what each star can do.
It was great seeing Moon pick up a huge win after more than a year out while Gonzalez vs Ripley seems set to be pushed for a while too.
