WWE NXT Results, winners, and grades: Duke Hudson looks to get some respect as he faces NXT Champion Bron Breakker. Indi Hartwell looks to teach NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose a lesson on this week’s episode of NXT 2.0.
Let鈥檚 start with the NXT results for 24 May:
Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo and Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan versus Edris Enofe and Malik Blade
Stacks and Enofe got us underway. Edris got Lorenzo in the corner and Blade worked him over with a tag. Springboard arm drag into a dropkick followed by a tag to Enofe.
Legado del Fantasma was watching the match from backstage. Santos Escobar said he is going to the ring. Legado del Fantasma came out to the stage area. After the match, Tony D’Angelo called them out to the ring. Blade took Two Dimes off his feet, big lariat in the ropes, headed up top, diving crossbody. However, the heels took Enofe out on the floor, and a neckbreaker drop put both men down and out. In the end, Lorenzo and Donovan picked up the victory.
The two factions brawled inside the ring until a plethora of referees pulled them apart.
Winner – Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo and Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan
Grade – B
Wes Lee versus Sanga
Wes Lee was being dominated from the get-go. Sanga used some heavy blows to wear down the high-flyer. Every time Lee looked to muster some offense, Sanga was stopping him in his tracks. Lee knocked Sanga out of the ring. The former hit a series of kicks to try and get back in the match.
Lee hit a double stomp to the back of Sanga and dropkicked the big man hip-first into the steel steps. In the end, Sanga won the match after delivering a lethal clothesline followed by a Chokeslam.
Xyon Quinn was outside the ring after the match ended. He applauded Sanga and got inside the ring. Quinn seemed to be set to attack a rattled Lee but Sanga came back and stood between the two men. Quinn exited the ring as Sanga lifted Lee back to his feet in a show of respect.
Winner – Sanga
Grade – B
Cora Jade motivated Roxanne Perez backstage before the latter’s match against Lash Legend later in the show. Jade even shared a story from their Indie days to instill confidence in Perez.
Bron Breakker enters a locker room where his title is. He finds a photograph from 20 years back. Joe Gacy’s mind games continue.
Elektra Lopez versus Alba Fyre
Elektra Lopez started the match on a strong note, using her power to perfection. Alba Fyre, however, fought back with a series of offensive maneuvers. Lopez got back the control of the match soon enough using her strength until Fyre delivered a Superkick followed by a headbutt. In the end, Fyre won the match after delivering a senton from the top rope.
Cora Jade was in the front row watching the match. Lopez slapped Jade’s drink out of her hand and got involved in a war of words after the match but things did not get physical.
Winner – Alba Fyre
Grade – C
Damon Kemp told The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile that Roderick Strong had rolled his ankle. Therefore, the match they had with Pretty Deadly is canceled. Julius Creed said they are “Diamond Mine” and they do not back away from a fight even if they are injured.
Ivy Nile also joined in saying that there are no excuses in Diamond Mine’s way. Kemp said he is just here to follow orders and earn a sport before walking away, promising to get an update on Strong’s ankle.
Briggs, Jensen, and Fallon Henley are interviewed backstage. They revealed that Nikkita Lyons had to withdraw from the Women’s NXT Breakout Tournament owing to an injury.
Tiffany Stratton confronted them and complained that Fallon did not earn her spot in the finals. Henly said she will wrestler Stratton later in the show to earn her place in the finals.
Lash Legend versus Roxanne Perez – NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament Semi-finals
It was all Lash Legend as the match started. She used her power to wear down Perez. The newcomer, however, unleashed a flurry of offensive moves to surprise Legend.
The heel managed to weather the storm from Perez and planted her face-first. However, it was Perez who managed to win the match with a Yoshi Tonic and punch her ticket to the finals of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.
Winner – Roxanne Perez
Grade – C
Katana Chance and Kayden Carter attacked Toxic Attraction backstage. Mandy Rose escaped as she was set to face Indi Hartwell up next.
Indi Hartwell versus Mandy Rose
Indi Hartwell started strong but the NXT Women’s Champion soon took control of the match. Fans were divided for this match as they chanted for both women. Hartwell dropped Rose on the top rope and followed with a few clotheslines. Hartwell delivered a sidewalk slam as Rose crawled out of the ring to catch a breather as we went into a commercial break.
Back from the break, we saw Rose dominating the match. A hard elbow from the champion only resulted in a two count. Rose, cut a frustrated figure as she started to trash-talk Hartwell. The Australian star got back in the match with some heavy blows. A Spinebuster from Hartwell only gave her a two count. Kayden Carter and Katana Chance chased Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin to the ring. The distraction allowed Rose to pick up the victory with a kick.
After the match, Mandy was celebrating at the stage area. Wendy Choo came from behind and attacked her. Choo celebrated with the NXT Women’s Championship to end the segment.
Winner – Mandy Rose
Grade – B
Bron Breakker was interviewed backstage. He said it was a little creepy to find his old photo in the locker room. He said that Gacy is trying to get him to snap.
A video of Bron playing football in high school appeared on the monitor behind him. The NXT Champion said his father promised to be at the match but could not make it as he was in Japan.
Tiffany Stratton versus Fallon Henly – NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament Semi-finals
Stratton hit a dragon screw followed by a running hip attack. A handspring back elbow followed by a double stomp could only give Stratton a two count. Henley tried to fight off Stratton but the latter focused on the injured knee of the newcomer.
In the end, Stratton reached the final after hitting a double stomp in the corner and following it up with a corkscrew Vader Bomb. Grayson Waller came to the ring to celebrate with Stratton.
Winner – Tiffany Stratton
Grade – B
Von Wagner versus Ikemen Jiro
Jiro rushed to the ring and attacked Wagner. However, the big man weather the storm and got control of the match. Jiro absorbed a lot of punishment before rattling Wagner with a flurry of innovative offensive moves.
It seemed as if the high-flyer would win the match but Wagner was too strong for Jiro. In the end, Wagner won the match with a northern lights bomb.
Post-match, Wagner went for a press slam to Jiro but Josh Briggs ran in to make the save. Briggs clotheslined Wagner out of the ring to end the segment.
Winner – Von Wagner
Grade – B
Tony D’Angelo cut a promo where he promised to end the war with the Legados at In Your House. The Don of NXT said he will go to Santos personally and make an offer he can’t refuse.
Toxic Attraction cut a promo where Mandy said the thought of Wendy touching the NXT Women’s Championship makes her want to throw up.
Gigi Dolin said that they will give Kayden Carter and Katana Chance a shot at the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and they will make it official next week.
We got a Carmelo Hayes barbershop segment. Cameron Grimes interrupted. Grimes and Hayes built up their upcoming championship match.
Bron Breakker versus Duke Hudson
As Bron Breakker made his way to the ring, we saw Joe Gacy with his two druids in a dark area. Gacy complimented the two men for the work they put in during the night. Gacy teased something that they are planning to do during Breakker’s match against Hudson.
It was all one-way traffic as Bron Breakker dominated proceedings after the match got underway. A Frankensteiner stunned Hudson. Gacy and the two druids were watching the match from the podium. Breakker dumped Hudson outside the ring but the latter managed to get some offense going after delivering a devastating clothesline.
Gacy and the druids came over to ringside as Breakker was perched up on the top rope. Hudson dropped him as the champion landed awkwardly on the top rope. Hudson sent Breakker into the steel steps. Back inside the ring, Hudson nailed some heavy punches and covered Breakker for a two count. Breakker used the energy from the crowd and turned things around with a Powerslam. Breakker got involved with the druids as he attacked them. Hudson tried to attack Breakker with a steel chair.
Breakker, however, got hold of the chair and dropped Hudson. The druids came inside the ring and Breakker dumped them outside. Gacy got up on the ring apron and Breakker swung the chair at him but the heel evaded. Hudson came from behind but Breakker hit him with the chair to get disqualified.
Winner – Duke Hudson
