WWE NXT Results, winners, and grades: Pretty Deadly successfully defended their NXT Tag Team Championships while Natalya made quick work of Tatum Paxley
Let’s start with the NXT results for 19 April:
Pretty Deadly came out to glorify themselves after winning the NXT Tag Team Championships in a Gauntlet match last week. They said they had dominated NXT UK previously and now they are here to dominate NXT 2.0 and their championship win in their first match is proof of the same.
The Grizzled Young Veterans came out and showed their anger at not being in the title match last week. Gibson said that the reason Pretty Deadly was successful in the UK was because they left.
They wanted to challenge Pretty Deadly for the championships but Elektra Lopez came out and Wilde and Mendoza passed by her to attack the Veterans. All three teams got involved in the scuffle.
The NXT Champion came to the ring and said if Gacy wanted to find out what he’s made of then he should come to the ring with his father’s Hall of Fame ring.
Gacy appeared on the screen and said he isn’t a hard man to find. Breakker exited the ring and went backstage in search of the heel.
In a closely-fought contest, both women displayed their full repertoire of moves. Sarray delivered a double stomp from the middle rope followed by a hanging dropkick.
Stratton rolled out of the ring as Sarray tried to bring her back. The match ended with Stratton delivering a spinning Vader Bomb to score the pinfall victory.
Result – Tiffany Stratton beat Sarray
Grade – B
Pretty Deadly was challenged to a match by Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell. The champions thought it was against the two ladies but eventually, they get to know that it’s for their men, Dexter Lumis and Duke Hudson.
Before the match, Waller was being interviewed backstage. He called Sanga deadweight and blamed him for their loss last week. Andra Chase and Bodhi Hayward get into a war of words with Waller when Sanga appeared and chased Waller to the ring.
As the match got underway, Sanga was all fired up as he started on a strong note throwing Waller across the ring a few times before dropping him with a shoulder tackle. Sanga hit an elbow drop to the back of Waller and as Sanga was setting up for a chokeslam, Waller rolled out of the ring. Sanga went outside to get Waller back in the ring but that led to his downfall. Waller sent Sanga into the announce table and then the ring post. Back in the ring, Waller delivered the rolling Stunner to get the W.
Result – Grayson Waller beat Sanga
Grade – B
Cora Jade cut another babyface promo. She showed a picture of her with her idol Natalya. She said you should never meet your idols. The youngster said she was wrong about Natalya and she is determined to kick her ass.
Roxanne Perez was being interviewed backstage when Toxic Attraction appeared. The heel stable ran down Perez and Jacy Jayne said she had a bad attitude, so how about they move her NXT debut up to this particular show?
Del Toro delivered a super Frankesteiner from the top rope to Drake. However, Gibson was the legal man. He broke the pinfall that Toro had on Drake.
Wilde came in and hit a DDT to take Drake out and after that, he launched himself over the ropes to take out Gibson. Legado hit their double-team finisher high/low to seal the victory in an exhilarating match.
Result – Legado Del Fantasma beat Gibson and Drake
Grade – B
This match went back and forth as both wrestlers seemed to have the match won on a few occasions. Both men had answers for whatever their opponent was throwing at them.
Hayes tripped Escobar who was on the ropes delivering the 10 punches. Escobar hit a pump kick and then threw Carmelo over the ropes.
Towards the closing stages of the match, two men in suits appeared at ringside and hit Santos with a crowbar, and then pushed him back to the ring. Hayes took advantage and delivered a top-rope Fame-Asser to win the match.
Result – Carmelo Hayes beat Santos Escobar
Grade – B
After the match, Cameron Grimes, Solo Sikoa, Carmelo Hayes, and Trick Williams all went face to face and Sikoa took the former NXT North American Champion and his ally out. Sikoa and Grimes had a stand-off to end the segment.
Bron Breakker entered a room full of mirrors. He saw Gacy appear behind him. As he turned, Gacy was nowhere to be seen. Bron broke a mirror screaming “where are you?”
The veteran put on a clinic as she had every answer to Paxley’s offense. Towards the closing stages of the match, Paxley kicked Natalya away after being run down in the corner.
She delivered a suplex but the third-generation wrestler ran Paxley into the turnbuckles and locked in the Sharpshooter for the victory.
Result – Natalya beat Tatum Paxley
Grade – C
Quinn used his strength to great effect in this match. He hit the flapjack but Lee came back trying to hit a springboard but he lost balance as Quinn hit a hard forearm.
Lee was reeling from the effects of the forearm. Quinn delivered a running elbow to grab a comfortable victory over Lee to build momentum.
Result – Xyon Quinn beat Wes Lee
Grade – C
Nikkita Lyons interrupted an interview of Natalya backstage and said she is coming for the veteran after she is done with Lash Legend.
Natalya said she will make her regret her decision when she locks her in the sharpshooter but Lyons reiterated that she’s very flexible and it won’t be a problem.
Roxanne with a couple of arm drags but Jayne evaded a third. Jayne hit a superkick and taunted Perez. Wendy Choo appeared on the big screen and showed how she destroyed the Toxic Lounge.
Perez took advantage of the distraction as she hit the Code Red on Jayne to pick up an important win against one-half of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Result – Roxanne Perez beat Jacy Jayne
Grade – C
Elton Prince and Lumis got us underway. The former held Lumis’ legs and allowed his partner to take advantage early on in the match.
Towards the climax, Lumis was knocked off the apron by Prince. Hudson was having a great match until Prince caught him with a big boot to seal a hard-fought win for his team.
Result – Pretty Deadly beat Duke Hudson and Dexter Lumis
Grade – A
The lights went off after the match and Joe Gacy appeared upon the platform above the crowd when it turned on. He was holding Rick Steiner’s Hall of Fame ring. He called out Breakker. Breakker came out and Gacy said he could have the ring only if he gives him a title shot at NXT Spring Breakin’.
Bron accepted as Gacy put the ring in the NXT Champion’s pocket. Gacy said Breakker needed to do one last thing and that is to take a leap of faith. Gacy pushed Breakker off the platform. As Breakker was down on the ground writhing in pain, a bunch of druids surrounded and grabbed him to close the segment in a creepy way.
