WWE NXT results, winners, grades and reaction: NXT had a lot going for it ahead of WrestleMania 36, and there was one huge match on the card too.
Keith Lee defended his NXT North American title in a triple threat match, however, the show started with another huge clash.
Velveteen Dream came out to face Bobby Fish of the Undisputed Era. Dream has targeted Adam Cole’s NXT title in the past few weeks and took on one of the tag experts from the stable.
Fish targeted Dream’s leg throughout the match but it was Velveteen that picked up the win and cut a promo too.
Dream beats Fish
Grade B
It was great to see a match right off the bat rather than a promo on NXT. The match itself was good but not having the fans might have hurt it.
It was also a surprise that Cole or the rest of the UE didn’t do a number on Dream, especially after Fish injured his leg.
Dexter Lumis came out to face Jake Atlas and we haven’t seen much of either star on NXT.
However, Dexter has a creepy persona about him and destroyed his rival to pick up a quick win.
Lumis beats Atlas
Grade C
Dexter seems like a different character to have on NXT, but we need to see more of him. The match didn’t give us a lot to learn about the character but the coming weeks should be interesting.
This was a match for the final spot in the ladder match for the No.1 contender’s spot for the Women’s title.
Shotzi Blackheart and Deonna Purrazzo started off and it was Blackheart that impressed by dispatching the Virtuosa.
Blackheart continued her march as he dispatched Xia Li, Aliyah and Kayden Carter. Her last hurdle was Dakota Kai.
Raquel Gonzalez also came out to help Kai and interfered in the clash. Ultimate, it was Kai who picked up the win and sealed a place in the ladder match.
Kai wins gauntlet match
Grade B
Although Kai won the clash, the real hero was Blackheart with her performance. She could have done with the win and place in the ladder match, but WWE might have other plans for her in the future.
Joaquin Wilde came out to face Kushida in what turned out to be an excellent clash.
We don’t get to see too much of these two thanks to the stacked NXT roster, but it was Wilde that took advantage early on.
However, it was the more experienced Kushida that picked up the win and the pair even shook hands after the clash.
Kushida beats Wilde
Grade B
Kushida is a great character to have on the roster but he doesn’t get enough time on the show. It will be interesting to see if his rivalry with Wilde continues or this was just filler due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Keith Lee had a lot of work to do as he faced Dominik Dijakovic and Damian Priest. The Limitless One was the champion but this was a real test in his short reign.
The match was great with all three stars having one huge spot at least. In the end, it was Lee that picked up the win even though Priest brought his nightstick into play.
Lee beats Dijakovic and Priest
Grade B
This was another fun match to end the night and it would have been better if the fans were there to see if.
All three were excellent and played their part, and hopefully, we see more of them in the coming weeks.
