WWE NXT results, winners, grades, reaction: Tommaso Ciampa and Finn Balor main even
WWE NXT results, winners, grades and reaction: The crowd was all fired up as NXT aired live from Full Sail University last night.
Josiah Williams mentioned how NXT beat up on RAW and SmackDown at Survivor Series as the full roster emptied into the ring to celebrate the occasion.
The Undisputed Era – NXT Champion Adam Cole, NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong, NXT Tag Team Champions Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish appeared to mention how they are the main reasons why NXT got the win at Survivor Series.
Tommaso Ciampa interrupted demanding an opportunity for the NXT title and so did Finn Balor to set up the main event for later the night.
Tag title clash
As for the opening contest of the show, Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic challenged The Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish for the tag team titles.
Roderick Strong filled in for Bobby Fish due to medical reasons in the middle of the match.
Adam Cole ran in after Dijakovic hit a double Chokeslam on his opponents distracting Lee.
Strong and O’Reilly hit the High Low on Dijakovic to get the pinfall win.
Match Grade: B (Typical NXT matchup with high-flying and overwhelming actions)
Dakota Kai back in the ring
Shane Thorne vs. Mansoor was the next matchup on NXT which saw the latter one picking the win by launching himself in from the apron into a big neckbreaker on his opponent.
Match Grade: D (The crowd was not that much excited to see Monsoor get put over)
Fans booed Dakota Kai out of the building as she appeared for a match against Candice LeRae who almost had the win by locking in the Gargano Escape.
But Kai got disqualified from the match by hitting LeRae with the Knee Brace. Rhea Ripley appeared to make the save as Kai ran away from the scene.
Match Grade: C (The focus was much more to the storyline rather than the actual match)
Lio Rush against Tozawa
The NXT Cruiserweight Title Match was next, where Lio Rush defended against Akira Tozawa.
Rush countered a top rope senton and hit The Final Hour two times to get the win and retain his title.
Match Grade: B (As always, Cruiserweight action does not disappoint)
Xia Li defeated Vanessa Borne in a singles encounter hitting her hard with a kick into the head.
After the match, Baszler attacked Li with the help of Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke. Rhea Ripley came out to send them for a retreat.
Match Grade: C (One-sided match to let Li gain some momentums)
Main event madness
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Finn Balor was the main event for this week’s NXT after what went down at the opening segment of the show.
Adam Cole ran in and threw the NXT belt into the ring. Balor dropped Ciampa onto it after which Cole delivered a kick on Ciampa.
Balor followed up with 1916 to get the pinfall win. He ended the show by stunning Cole with an overhead kick.
Match grade: A (A Super Main Event with back and forth action that would soon set up an NXT title match)
