WWE Raw Results and Grades: WWE Clash of Champions takes place on Sunday and Raw had to clear some issues with their titles on the show.
The Street Profits still didn’t have a rival for Sunday while Asuka was on the same boat. Bobby Lashley, the US Champion, also needed a rival but we start off with some madness on this WWE Raw results and grades piece.
The show started off with news that WWE had offered contracts to Retribution. The members of Retribution were also confirmed to be Mia Yim, Mercedes Martinez, Shane Thorne, Dio Maddin and Dominik Dijakovic.
Retribution and The Hurt Business clashed and more Retribution members came out to attack the Business.
Grade Z
This made no sense whatsoever. Why would WWE announce that Retribution were handed deals after they destroyed a SmackDown ring and a transformer?
Why are they wearing masks? Why do they look like something that Imortan Joe wore at Mad Max? What was the point of all this? WWE have really dropped the ball on this one big time.
The Profits were to find out who their rivals were for the titles. Andrade and Angel Garza teamed up to take on Seth Rollins and Murphy while the other team was Humberto Carrillo and Dominik Mysterio.
Rollins ditched Murphy during the match and that allowed Garza and Andrade to pick up the win.
Garza and Andrade win
Grade D
This segment also didn’t make a lot of sense. Andrade and Garza were arguing last week and fighting but now they are on the same page. Why would Rollins even come on if he didn’t want to fight?
There was more madness as Dawkins and Ford applauded Garza and Andrade, the pair whose manager, Zelina Vega tried to poison Ford and succeeded.
Shane McMahon came out with Dabbo Kato on The Kevin Owens show as he hyped up the star.
Kato was to face Braun Strowman and Owens slapped Kato before the Monster came out.
While McMahon tried to keep the pair apart, Aleister Black attacked Owens and used the ring post to hurt the mentionable.
Grade D
Another poor segment from Raw as this just didn’t click. Owens was the only good part in this but otherwise, it was just poor and a mess.
Keith Lee got another crack at Drew McIntyre knowing a win could see him replace Randy Orton if the Viper wasn’t fit at Clash of Champions.
The match was going well before Orton hit McIntyre with a chair, causing the DQ. He then hit Lee with a punt to send a message.
McIntyre beats Lee by DQ
Grade B
The match was great and even though the finish wasn’t, it ensured that Lee didn’t get his shot while Orton kept his.
Orton also remained the top heel and it should solve problems on what takes place on Sunday.
Zelina Vega took on Mickie James to decide who will face Asuka for the Raw title at Clash of Champions.
James cleared the air over what happened last week but it was Vega who got the win and made it to the PPV.
Vega beats James
Grade B
Vega is a talented wrestler and it will be interesting to see what happens at Clash of Champions.
WWE showed off a segment of Bianca Belair and then Truth doing his bit to keep his 24/7 title.
We got a match between Cedric Alexander and Apollo Crews next. Crews was able to get the win thanks to some interference from Ricochet.
The Hurt Business then attacked the pair before sending a message to Retribution.
Crews beats Alexander
Grade C
This match could have been much better than what it was. However, the main topic was about Crews getting attacked by Bobby Lashley ahead of their match.
Arturo Ribas and Dolph Ziggler fought on Raw Underground with Ziggler getting the win.
Rollins, who walked out on Murphy, came out with an envelope in his hand.
Rollins called out the Mysterio family and claimed that DNA tests confirmed that Aalyah was not the daughter of Rey.
The family walked off disgusted while Rollins smiled.
Grade Z
This exact story was done a decade or so back and it worked back then because it was a different WWE.
Bringing it back makes no sense and targeting Rey’s daughter is just lazy and poor writing.
Lana and Natalya were in action against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. The champions won easily and even sent Lana through a table, again.
Baszler and Jax beat Natalya and Lana
Grade D
The match was a near copy of what happened last week. Sending a message to the Riott Squad is fine but beating the same opponents doesn’t work.
Former IIconics member, Peyton Royce, took on Asuka with Billie Kay watching. The match wasn’t anything great with Vega interrupting and causing the DQ.
Asuka tried to attack Vega but the challenger ran away.
Asuka beats Royce
Grade D
This was another poor segment from WWE as Royce vs Asuka just didn’t work and Vega couldn’t even get a bit of a boost ahead of the PPV.
However, the match is on the kick off show, which is a bit of a kick for both stars.
Also, Strowman and Kato met at Underground and it was Strowman who got the win.
Retribution took on the Business on the main event Slapjack, T-Bar and Mace took on Alexander, Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.
As the fight was going on, other members of Retribution hit the ring and drew the DQ.
McIntyre came out with some Raw stars to clear the ring but Orton hit him with the RKO to end the show.
Hurt Business beat Retribution by DQ
Grade C
The build up was for McIntyre vs Orton and that worked a bit. However, the match between Retribution and the Business didn’t work at all.
