WWE Raw Results and Grades: Hell in a Cell might have ended one night ago but WWE was ready for their next PPV, Survivor Series.
The traditional 5 on 5 matches were set for the PPV and Raw had to decide what their men’s and women’s teams were going to be like with several matches set on the show.
However, we start off this WWE Raw results and grades piece with Drew McIntyre opening the show after his loss to Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell.
The Scot was upset at losing the title but blamed himself for the result. The Miz and John Morrison came out after the Miz won the MITB briefcase and claimed he would be champion by defeating Orton again.
McIntyre grew tired and attacked them and claimed there would be hell to pay.
Grade B
This was an OK segment as nothing special could be made out of it. McIntyre losing the title was a bit of a surprise but the Miz winning the MITB case wasn’t.
Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles fought next for a spot on the Survivor Series team. Styles claimed he should be the Raw captain and got the win in the end.
Afterwards, Elias smashed a guitar on Hardy’s back.
Styles beats Hardy
Grade B
The pair put on a great match, as expected, and Styles getting the win was the right decision.
Hardy vs Elias seems set to continue for a while and it will be interesting to see what is next for the pair.
R-Truth was chased around by a few stars for his 24/7 title. This led to a match with Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik taking on Akira Tozawa and Drew Gulak.
Truth then came out looking for someone, and that saw almost every other opponent try to pin him. Dorado got the pin over Gulak for the tag win as Truth ran away.
Lucha House Party beat Gulak and Tozawa
Grade E
WWE are overdoing bits for the 24/7 title and the end of this match was comical but didn’t click.
The referee didn’t call for a DQ when everyone was trying to pin Truth and it really made no sense.
Elias took on Keith Lee in the next Survivor Series qualifier and there were some shenanigans from Hardy.
His music played to distract Elias which allowed Lee to get the win. Then, Hardy smashed a guitar on Elias’ back to send a message.
Lee beats Elias
Grade B
This was another fun match but it was a little upsetting to see Elias lose again. WWE have plans for Elias and Hardy for sure, and it was great seeing Lee get a win.
The Hurt Business took on Retribution in an elimination match. One highlight from the match was Reckoning acting like she was possessed which allowed Slapjack to eliminate MVP.
In the end, Mustafa Ali used a chair to get himself disqualified and Retribution lost the match.
Hurt Business beat Retribution
Grade D
The match certainly lost its sheen when Reckoning did what she had to do. This would have been fine if this was part of her character but it was so random, it made no sense.
Retribution losing the match at the last made no sense too. Why not attack everyone with the chair and get DQ early on and stay heels?
McIntyre was distracted a couple of times by Morrison but the former champion destroyed both stars before picking up the pin.
McIntyre beats Miz
Grade C
The sad part in all this is seeing Morrison getting beat up so many times. He is a quality performer but WWE has to do something better with him.
Lana, Nikki Cross, Lacey Evans and Peyton Royce all battled for the final spot in the women’s Survivor Series team.
Adam Pearce confirmed that Shayna Baszler, Nia Jax, Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke had already made the team.
The final spot would be decided by the 4-Way and Lana took advantage by pushing out a couple of stars and getting a pin after Evans was destroyed.
The four Raw participants looked shocked after the result but Jax tried to huge Lana before sending the Russian through a table, again.
Lana wins 4-Way
Grade D
The Raw team looks weird with Lana included and no one seems to be like a real captain. However, sending Lana through a table certainly is getting old and lame.
This was the third match for a place in the Survivor Series men’s team, and the two put on quite a show.
After a series of close calls, it was Sheamus that got the win via a Brogue Kick.
Sheamus beats Riddle
Grade B
Sheamus joining Lee and Styles makes the Raw team interesting, and it is to be seen who the final two stars will be.
Bray Wyatt and Alexa Bliss hosted a Firefly Fun House segment before the interview with Orton. Wyatt was still thinking of the burned house from the fight between the pair years back.
However, Bliss was in the ring to interview Orton. The new champion wasn’t taking anything from Bliss and was waiting for the Fiend to come out.
McIntyre surprised everyone by attacking Orton before the champ ran back to the ramp. The Fiend’s music hit next and he was standing behind Orton.
However, the champ decided to face McIntyre as the pair started to brawl with the show closing out.
Grade B
This wasn’t a bad ending but The Fiend taking a shot at either star would have been fun. Bliss is revelling in her new role and it will be interesting to see what is next for the pair.
