WWE Raw Results and Grades: WWE was setting up for SummerSlam as its next PPV but there were some big matches on show here.

Sasha Banks was to face Asuka to determine who is the WWE Raw Women’s Champion. Also, a triple threat tag match was set up to find out who would face The Street Profits for the titles at the PPV.

Drew McIntyre was to share his stipulation for a title rematch against Dolph Ziggler but we start this WWE Raw Results and grades piece with Randy Orton.

The Viper sets his sights

Orton came out and claimed he had done more than the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Viper suggested that something was missing and now he wants to be the WWE Champion again.

While McIntyre had earned Orton’s respect, the Viper challenged The Scot for a clash at SummerSlam.

Grade B

Orton vs McIntyre has been teased for a while and now fans should get to see it. While Orton was great on the microphone, there wasn’t anything new that he said that could be picked out.

Triple threat tag match

Angel Garza and Andrade faced the Viking Raiders and Ricochet and Cedric Alexander in a triple threat tag match.

This was for a shot at the tag titles at SummerSlam and Garza and Andrade initially didn’t fight as they allowed their rivals to do the business.

However, the pair were brought into the mix and it was Garza who picked up the win.

Angel Garza and Andrade win

Grade B

Garza and Andrade have had their issues in the past but they seem to have put it all behind them. The pair should be real rivals for the Profits, and it will be interesting to see how things go at SummerSlam 2020.

Jax is back

Nia Jax made her way to the ring after Orton’s speech but was attacked by Shayna Baszler. The pair then met in the ring but the match ended as a double count-out as they hammered each other.

Some officials came out to stop them but they were attacked too.

Grade C

There was no use of such an ending for the match. It did show that both women are dangerous but we all know that.

Dominik and Rollins

Seth Rollins and Murphy were in the ring and called out Dominik Mysterio. The younger Mysterio came out and was welcomed by the pair and Rollins even offered to mentor Dominik.

However, Dominik attacked the pair before the numbers game caught up. Aleister Black came out to save Dominik but he was set to face the same fate as Rey Mysterio. As Murphy tried to injure Black’s eye, Dominik made the save with the kendo stick.

Grade B

This was a decent enough segment as we could get Murphy vs Black in the future with the pair having some incredible bouts.

Dominik also coming out on his own showed he is ready for the big leagues, and it will be interesting to see how this feud goes.

Ali vs Lashley

Mustafa Ali was the guest for the VIP Lounge as Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley also looked on. Ali clearly told MVP that he wasn’t keen on joining him or the Hurt Business. Truth tried to get his 24/7 title back in between but failed to do so and was chased off.

The match between Ali and Lashley started and it was Lashley who won the clash via a submission.

Lashley beats Ali

Grade C

This felt like a wasted segment for Ali after his great debut last week. Truth trying to get the title back was fun but something was missing in all this.

Banks vs Asuka

Kairi Sane chased off Bayley early on to make sure it was 1-vs-1 for the title. Banks tried to take advantage by using an Eddie Guerrero trick and faking that Asuka used the title, however, the referee didn’t buy that.

Asuka had Banks in her Asuka lock but Bayley attacked Sane at backstage. The Empress ran off to help her friend and Banks won via countout.

Banks beats Asuka

Grade B

The finish was far from ideal after a solid match and it was surprising why WWE chose this. However, Banks and Bayley are both double champions now and it will be interesting to see what is next.

Carrillo vs Murphy

Humberto Carrillo faced off against Murphy and it was Murphy that started off well.

However, Carrillo came out firing and almost got the win before Murphy hit Murphy’s law for the win.

Grade B

This was another decent match but didn’t do much in terms of storytelling. Murphy is flying high after attacking Black and it was great for him to get the win.

McIntyre vs Ziggler

McIntyre confirmed that this would be another Extreme Rules match and this time, the Scot was also allowed to use weapons.

The Scot dominated early before Ziggler got control of the match via a low blow. That was not enough to stop McIntyre as he put Ziggler through a table via a claymore.

As McIntyre celebrated Orton hit an RKO to end the show.

McIntyre beats Ziggler

Grade B

The stipulation certainly was underwhelming after making us wait for so long. However, the match certainly was good, and Orton coming out to take out the champion certainly sets things up well for next week.
