Raw landed in Toledo, Ohio, with the Royal Rumble less than a week away. Here is what happened of WWE Raw on January 24

This week’s Raw served as the final buildup to one of the most significant events of the year: the Royal Rumble. Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley came face to face before their clash for WWE Championship, and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch had some verbal battle with Doudrop. Let us look at what happened on Raw.

1.WWE and Raw Women’s Champion begins the show with some verbal spat

The show opened with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and his opponent for Royal Rumble, Bobby Lashley, facing off first. Lesnar wore jeans, a few shirts and cowboy boots. 

The Beast said that he was not taking this situation seriously. He knows that Lashley won’t defeat him this Saturday. He also responded that on Sunday the headlines, there was a new reigning, defending WWE champion before calling Lashley “Bobby who?”

On the other side, Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Doudrop had some verbal spat. Doudrop claimed to Lynch that she had picked “the new girl” because she thought it would be an easy win. Lynch, in reply, said Thank You, which led to Doudrop storming out of the interview, with the two briefly brawling.

2. Bianca Belair vs. Queen Zelina

The night’s first match saw The Est of WWE Bianca Belair take on Queen Zelina in one-on-one action. Belair started off by picking up Zelina to put her on the apron. Then, she pulled her back and spun her around before bringing her down to the mat.

However, Zelina countered into a Stunner, The Queen sidestepped Belair and sent her into the middle turnbuckle, but Belair opposed it for a press slam.

Belair got some momentum as she hit the vertical suplex and counted Zelina’s Code Red. In the end, she hit the K.O.D. for the win.

3. Damian Priest vs Kevin Owens

Last week on Raw, Kevin Owens scored the first pinfall victory over Damian Priest on the main roster last week which earned him a shot at the United States Championship. 

Owens hit the Stunner straightaway, but Priest countered it and sent him to the corner for some body shots. Owens, however, countered a chokeslam. Then, the Archer of Infamy blocked a superkick and ran Owens into the barricade.

K.O. hit a tornado D.D.T. out of the corner and a frog splash, but Priest somehow kicked out at a close two count.

After some near falls, Priest lost his cool and started stomping on Owens in the corner. The ref disqualified Priest as he was not stopping, which resulted in Owens winning the match, but Priest kept the title.

Result: Kevin Owens defeats Damian Priest via disqualification.

4. Rhea Ripley, Dana Brooke and Liv Morgan vs Nikki A.S.H, Tamina and Carmella

WWE combined some of the ongoing feuds into a single six-women tag match featuring Rhea Ripley, Dana Brooke taking on Liv Morgan vs Nikki A.S.H, Tamina and Carmella.

Tamina and Brooke started for their respective teams. Brooke somehow got out of the headlock and tagged Ripley.

Ripley was on fire as she knocked Mella and Nikki off the apron before hitting Tamina with a clothesline. In the end, it was Ripley and Carmella in the middle. The latter tapped out to a reverse cloverleaf.

5. Chad Gable vs Randy Orton

Orton and Gable started off with withholds and counters. However, Gable had some momentum as he hit Orton in the throat, but it was just a matter of time as one kick to gut allowed Orton to turn the tables and hit a series of uppercuts. 

The Olympian hit a textbook moonsault for a two count, but The Apex Predator made a comeback and hit his signature backbreaker. He struck Gable with rope-hung D.D.T.

Orton was about to give the punt kick, but Gable countered it with an ankle lock. The Viper escaped and hit the R.K.O. for the win.

6. AJ Styles vs Austin Theory

Vince McMahon told Austin Theory earlier in the night that he needed to finish off Styles and return with a good selfie, but this time Theory came up short. He was defeated by AJ Styles, who won the match by putting on some extraordinary performance and won via pinfall after striking a Phenomenal Forearm.

Results: AJ Styles defeated Austin Theory by Pinfall.

7. The Street Profits vs Mysterios

Angelo Dawkins and Dominik ran the topes to start. Dominik hit a quick hurricanrana followed by an arm drag from the top rope.

Montez took out both Mysterios with a huge dive over the top. Rey took Ford down with a head-scissor and followed up with a seated senton.

Ford countered the 619, but Rey still scored the pin with a victory roll for the win.

Result: The Street Profits defeated Mysterios 

8. Maryse’s Birthday Celebration

The main event of the evening was not a match. Instead, The Miz threw Maryse a birthday party to hype their game against Edge and Phoenix at the Royal Rumble.

Miz gave his first gift, a portrait of two of them as Prince and princess. She said she wanted to open the big gift, but The Miz said he didn’t get that one for her. 

It was later revealed to be a brick in the box, Edge and Phoenix came out and took the security team on their way to the ring as Edge gave a powerbomb to one of the securities through the gifts, but The Miz and Maryse escaped.
