Rhea Ripley is one of the most dominant female wrestlers in the WWE. The Australian is a former WWE Raw Women’s Champion (1 time), NXT Women’s Champion (1 time), and WWE Tag Team Champion (1 time). At only 25, she still has a long way to go in her pro-wrestling career. She will go to Wrestlemania this year after winning the royal rumble 2023.
Rhea Ripley Career
Ripley made her pro-wrestling debut when she was hardly 17, at Riot City Wrestling, back in 2013. She spent more than 4 years at the promotion, while also becoming a two-time Riot City Wrestling Champion.
On the 22nd of April, 2017 she left the promotion and signed with the WWE. She competed in the inaugural Mae Young Classic. That was when she debuted her ring name, Rhea Ripley.
She lost to Dakota Kai in the second round after beating Miranda Salinas in the first. On the 25th of October, 2017, Ripley made her television debut.
She turned heel the next year, at the 2018 Mae Young Classic, while also rocking a new look. Ripley became a part of NXT UK. An eight-woman tournament was set up to determine the inaugural NXT UK Women’s champion.
She competed against fellow women’s wrestlers like Dakota Kai, Toni Storm and won the tourney to become the first NXT UK women’s champion.
She reigned as the champion for 139 days, before losing to Toni Storm in January 2019. In December 2019, Ripley got her hands on the NXT Women’s Championship after beating Shayna Baszler.
Almost a year and a half later, Ripley made her main roster debut, on the 22nd of March episode of Raw, one month after a vignette of her featured, hyping her arrival.
No sooner did Ripley arrive, than she challenged then-Raw women’s champion Asuka for a title match. The match was scheduled to take place at WrestleMania Night 2.
Ripley defeated Asuka to win the WWE Raw Women’s championship. However, she would go on to lose her title at the Money in the Bank 2021, to Charlotte Flair. Her only reign as the RAW Women’s champion lasted 98 days.
She failed to retrieve her title in a triple threat match against Nikki A.S.H and Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam.
Rhea slowly developed a unique bonding with the happy-go-lucky Nikki A.S.H over the next few weeks. On the September 20 episode of RAW, they won the Women’s Tag Team Championship from Natalya and Tamina.
They reigned for 63 days and eventually lost the titles to the current champions Queen Zelina and Carmella on the 22 November episode of RAW.
They bottled their chances to win back the titles and eventually on the 16 January episode of RAW, Ripley wanted to part ways with Nikki. She said they’ll still be friends but won’t be competing as a team. Nikki however took offense and attacked Ripley. They had a feud going for the next few weeks but Rhea got the better of her former tag team partner.
Rhea has competed in important matches since then and even faced Becky and Bianca in a triple threat match last week for Becky’s RAW Women’s title but she couldn’t win.
She teamed up with Liv Morgan in a triple-threat tag team match against the tag champs Queen Zelina and Carmella and the team of Sasha Banks and Naomi at WrestleMania 38. The match was for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Ripley recently turned heel against Liv Morgan. It is now to be seen whether she gets featured on WWE Wrestlemania Backlash match card.
2023 began on an amazing note for Rhea Ripley as she managed a last-min epic win at WWE royal rumble.

Ripley had been in a relationship with Demetri ‘Action’ Jackson who is a professional wrestler on the independent circuit.
The pair had been in a relationship since 2019. Ripley confirmed the same in October 2019. The two are believed to have met in a gym.

Ripley was recently confirmed to be dating AEW star, Buddy Matthews. She confirmed the same via a post on Twitter. Matthews appears regularly on Ripley’s Twitch streams. The two wrestlers have often posted videos of them working out together on social media. However, Ripley has shared several videos of herself being intimate with Matthews, especially in recent times, which sparked the speculations even more.
And very recently, rhea has reacted to her boyfriend Buddy Matthews losing a game at AEW Dynamite. She just tweeted #BuddyMatthews after the match.
