Adam Cole could be out of a contract at the end of the month and that isn’t something that many WWE executives believed was the case
The curious case of Adam Cole and his WWE contract seems to have taken quite a few off guard, including those within WWE.
WrestlingInc had earlier reported that Cole’s contract is expiring later this month, which wasn’t expected by many.
Some believed that the NXT Triple Crown champion was contracted till 2024. However, that is not the case as his contract was extended after the Great American Bash on 6 July.
PWI has now provided an update on Cole’s condition in WWE. The report claims that many WWE executives believed Cole was contracted till 2022 at least if not 2024.
Many within WWE are also frustrated that Cole’s contract issues have been made public.
The report adds that there is a ton of interest in Cole from companies that are not even in the wrestling space.
Cole does have a huge online presence thanks to his gaming, but he also is in a strong position to negotiate with AEW, WWE and other wrestling promotions.
It is to be seen whether Cole leaves WWE or not. WWE have made some big moves in recent weeks by cutting Aleister Black and Braun Strowman, among others loose.
Those were big names in the company and proof that contracts aren’t really much of a guarantee in WWE.
Cole, for his part, is one of the best in the WWE and any promotion would love to have him. He is expected to face Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver 36 but that has not been confirmed yet.
Cole leaving WWE would be a real blow to the company after so many cuts, and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.
