According to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer (h/t Cage side seats), The idea was to turn WWE star Keith Lee into a heel, make Adam Cole his manager, and maybe with a different name like Bobby Lashley and Rush. It was more of a dynamic thing but more as a manager than a wrestler.

“They were going to bring him up. The idea was to turn Keith Lee heel, have Adam Cole be his manager. Probably with a different name because of the last name Cole…kind of like a Lio Rush / Bobby Lashley thing, where you have this little guy who is a big talker, and he hides behind this big massive African American guy.”
“That was kind of the dynamic that they were looking for him, more as a manager [than] a wrestler.”
