WWE confirmed that a wrestler tested positive for coronavirus (COVID 19) but didn’t confirm the identity
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) confirmed on Monday that a wrestler tested positive for coronavirus (COVID 19)
WWE issued a statement through associate medical director Dr Jeffrey Dugas confirming the news.
“A developmental talent, who was last on site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19. Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms.”
Since March, WWE have been forced to tape all their shows at the Performance Centre in Orlando, Florida due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
No details on which wrestler has COVID 19
While there have been no spectators allowed, since the last couple of weeks, WWE has been using developmental talent as well as NXT stars, as audience for the tapings at the Performance Centre in Orlando, Florida.
Barriers had been installed to separate the spectators from the in-ring talent, there have been incidents in the past when the two have ended up mingling.
As per the statement, the wrestler that has tested positive is a developmental talent. But it remains unclear if the said performer is part of the NXT roster.
The statement insisted that WWE plans to test all crew and performers on-site immediately, with tapings for the upcoming shows set to continue once the tests were done.
“However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company’s performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately.
“Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule.”
WWE conduct tests on Tuesday morning
A report from PWInsider confirmed that WWE had conducted tests on a large gathering of performers and staff on Tuesday morning.

The report adds that the testing process was very disorganized at fast. But things went about smoothly as the day went along.
It is also claimed that some of the talent were unhappy with fans being allowed into the Performance Centre. On Monday’s edition of Raw, a small section of select supporters were allowed to be part of the tapings.
Having conducted the tests, WWE are set to resume tapings from today, i.e., Wednesday says PWInsider.
