The return of big stars like John Cena, The Rock rumored to cause WWE releases

John Cena and Dwyane ‘The Rock’ Johnson are supposedly returning to WWE this year which could be the reason for the WWE releases in June.

Wrestling News posted a couple of updates regarding the releases and brought up expenses and “big talent” returning as possibly being one factor.

WWE signed the releases of 13 Superstars including Tony Nese, Fandango, Tyler Breeze and Killian Dain. The shock comes in the aftermath of rumors that Cena will be returning at SummerSlam this year in August.

The Rock is also set to make a return and complete the dream match with cousin, Roman Reigns. Reigns has earlier warned Cena and The Rock from returning to WWE, considering his domination on WWE SmackDown.

The WWE Universal Champion was interrrupted on Friday by the returning Rated-R Superstar Edge. The two are likely to face off at Money in the Bank for the title. Cena, is promoting his latest film – F9: The Fast Saga. He confirmed that he will return to WWE and is “excited” to be back.
